Switch to Shaw, or have a web based email account
If it was Telus Dial up, I could help you trouble shoot, I used to do tech support for them back in Winnipeg:confused:

in the past 4 years I think I've had one outage where its been their fault....other than that their service has been cock stiff solid

I was a consultant on contract at Telus (in the big boot on Kingsway/Boundary). I can tell you that the way they work in there is really inefficient, and everyone acts like they are in government (ie: cynical, indifferent, stupid). They always have service interruptions because they con't know how to manage anything and their technicians are lazy. Furthermore, many are unionized and they take way too much time off or get paid ridiculous amounts of money for little work. I would not get mobile, internet, telephone, ... not anything from them at all. They truly suck.

I have had at least four outages, all their fault, and all have taken over a week to get a service tech out to fix the problem. That's after waiting on hold for 15+ minutes to talk to a tech support person who then walks you through a bunch of exercises in futility (re-boot your computer... yup, tried that three times; unplug your modem... tried that too; unplug the coax cable and clean it... yeah, did that) before conceding that the problem is indeed beyond the customer's control and requires a technician to come and fix it.

ever since the kids went back to skool SHAW has been slower than shit, service and e-mail black/brown outs.

I usually get a good 4mbits consistantly. Now if I get 2-3 I'm doing good.

Glad to see you're not the only one. Here in east Vancouver, I get lots of brownouts because the kids are playing counterstrike and runescape! :(

The problem is all the ISPs over sell their bandwidth, they have room for say 100 on BW ,but they assume 8 will be jerking off ,fuking the SO,having a dump. so they sell 108 for the BW. Now you have all the rugrats who play Toy soldier with each other. which uses mega BW and guess who gets bumped off ? You and me ,who are just trying to surf PERB and find some pussy. Phone them up and tell them if you don't have enough BW don't sell it. and guess what their answer will be...................................wait for it ..............................They don't. Yah right... The cheques in the mail and I promise not to come in your mouth
