Like many people I have a love/ hate relationship with coffee or red wines when it comes to keeping super white teeth. This is incredible considering how I often I brush my teeth even, but I decided not to lose the up hill battle and try out the Plackers Intense 1 Hour Whitening Kit.

The trays are kinda less then fun to sit with in my mouth for an hour but I wondered maybe the next time I might try this if someone has tried something more effective or pleasant?

For the very same reason, I did a 2 week whitening stint that my dentist set up. The first step was making custom trays from your teeth. Then twice a day for 2 weeks these were used to put the whitening agent on the teeth. This was done by putting a drop of whitening agent in each tooth cavity of the tray and then put on the teeth for about 20 minutes as I recall. Worked like a hot damn.

You really want the kind where you need to boil the trays for 30 seconds then stick them in your mouth and suck down like you do for mouth guards for contact sports. Take them out, let them cool, and gloop the bleaching gel into them before sticking them into your mouth. 20-30 minutes, then rinse rinse rinse to get the awful taste and burning out of your mouth. Spitting when you need to, and you'll need to (so you don't dilute the bleaching agent against your teeth), is a must.

These kinds of kits worked well for me; but they tend to preferentially bleach to tips of your teeth and make the "roots" stand out more (but less-so than the kits where you don't mould the trays). You need to do it a few times before it's satisfactory. Some kits come with small bore syringes so you can target the gumline but it's a bit painful and tastes awful and messy. Others have a "blue light" thingy but I'm skeptical. Theoretically it should help if the bleaching ingredient is further activated, but, meh.

Getting a bit stoned first makes the experience less unpleasant. Groupon around here regularly has offers to teeth whitening from spas for cheap(ish). Also semi-regularly offers cheap kits, too.
