How long do you keep personal tax records?
I’m cleaning house and have a bankers box back to 1974.

During Divorce #2 I was so glad I had the then past 15 years of records etc in bankers boxes. Those were the higher income and spending years and it helped my case a lot. Then after she got the house and I moved, I hauled a truck load (not kidding) of paper over to a commercial shredding outfit. Now I keep the current year plus the past 7 and anything older is shredded or burned.

And I did find a couple of old circa '92-93 DVD's of some porn skits. One was some kind of a game that I never played just went right to the avi files. Lots of the old time porn stars in there. Also some college dude that specialized in picking up coeds taking them back to his 'studio' and having them fuck his brains out while he recorded them. Good stuff back then, had more of a real feel to it even though it was mostly staged.

My investment style is to purchase good stocks and hold them. I suspect that purchase records for stocks I have held for many years may come in handy if/as and when they are sold, since I will need to know their original cost. Even though those records are much older than seven years, I suspect I should hold them until after the sale. Perhaps some expert could correct me if I am wrong.

Does your computer lose it’s memory when you turn it off? Of course not.

Burn them onto multiple CD’s and store securely.

Data sticks and store them in your safety deposit box.

I have a few years at home. My accountant has it even further back on his computer. Possibly over 30 years.
