Just plastered all over the 6-o'clock news that sw tara-lynn aka michelle is hiv positive and having confessed to having bbfs with a very unlucky pooner. Goodluck you stupid fuck.
Hey, that's so harsh! I'm sure he thought (using every molecule of gray matter and his IQ of 75) that he was the only one she was actually giving bbfs to because he was so damn 'spayshul'.

Police warn of HIV positive sex-trade worker

August 23, 2006 - 5:58 pm
By: Jim Goddard

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Vancouver Police are looking for anyone who may have had unprotected sex with HIV positive sex-trade worker Michele Pauline Whonnock. She faces one charge of aggravated assault after police claim she had unprotected sex with a client but didn't tell them about her HIV positive status. Police say the 27-year-old woman has worked on the Downtown Eastside, Burnaby, Maple Ridge and Bellingham.
They're making it sound like she's the only SW who's HIV+. Is there anything more to the story?

I think the difference is that she's HIV+ and going around offering BBFS... Of course, anybody stupid enough to take her up on it in the first place almost deserves what they get. I mean seriously, how freaking hard is it to just use a hat?!?

Men and females are in the same boat when they want to put thier health risk up. I dont understand why you would have unprotective sex paying for it or getting paid- THATS GROSS GIVE YOUR HEAD A SHAKE!!! Its like who does own up to when a condum breaks well both parties are worried. I read pooners bragging about doing bbfs that just tells me you are guilty of something that you got and you care to share. I did hear that if some one that has HIV can get charged for spreading it around. Dont be stupid for those that provide that bbfs. Enough said!! EWWWW

Well, I don't know if I'd say it's gross, but it is incredibly stupid and dangerous for both parties involved. Anyone who actually does that is either completely ignorant of the risks (which is pretty much impossible in most developed nations, unless you're willfully ignorant), or just a complete idiot. Unprotected sex is something for disease-free people who are in a comitted, monogamous relationship. Not for pooners and sps!

k, so no worries on almost anyone with a brain not being protected.. but what about every other scenario... does she have other names...? the sarcasm about being stupid is great, but what other names does she go by? where does she work? is she only street? anyone care? i'm not sweating it, but isn't that the kind of info one wants to know? everyone knows being a wreckless asshole will get you risks, but dont you want to know who she is? as if you know anyones name... anyway, posted it for the benefit of the majority, not the wreckless minority...

I read a while ago that the fastest growing part of the population with HIV is single women age 18 - 25 non sextrade workers, My point is who is safe?that age group sounds like your average colledge student.

BBFS is a no-no, that's a given. BBBJ seems to be a YMMV thing, but the risks of CIM seem obvious. But what about DATY, which most of us seem to like/do. What risks?

and therein lies the irony: lots of dickheads slamming the sp's
for doing their job, but when the college babes put out three times
a night in the dorm sans condoms its called a party!

its getting to the point where sex with an sp IS safer than sex
with your average bar-bunny simply because most sp's do practice
safe sex while too many of the bunnies don't.

Warning irks HIV/AIDS activists
Police release name, photo of HIV-positive sex trade worker in the area

Gwen Preston
Vancouver Sun

VANCOUVER - Police warned Wednesday that a sex trade worker with HIV has been working in the city, the suburbs, and Bellingham since 2000, a warning that triggered anger among HIV/AIDS activists.

Michelle Pauline Whonnock has been charged with aggravated sexual assault after having unprotected sex without disclosing she is HIV-positive.

Vancouver police are now trying to find out how many men Whonnock has had unprotected sex with while HIV-positive, and if she deliberately exposed her partners to the virus.

Whonnock, a 27-year-old Vancouver resident, was arrested July 25 and released a short time later.

On Wednesday, police released her name and picture.

CREDIT: Police Handout Photo
Picture released: According to police, Michelle Pauline Whonnock has been working the city, suburbs and as far south as Bellingham since 2000.

"We're trying to get a better picture of what she's been doing since 2000 and how many people she's been with," said Const. Howard Chow. "We want to find anyone who can provide us with any lifestyle or context information."

But her public identification has the HIV/AIDS community up in arms over the violation of Whonnock's privacy.

"She hasn't been tried or convicted," said Alana Klein, a lawyer and senior policy analyst at the Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network. "So disclosure of her HIV status is a violation of her privacy."

Klein said the police tactic -- releasing the name and picture of an HIV-positive person of interest -- is something she has "noticed increasingly recently."

Vancouver police used the tactic in March, releasing the name and picture of a man convicted of aggravated sexual assault for having sex with two partners without disclosing the fact he was HIV-positive to try to identify other possible partners.

Glyn Townson, vice-chair of the board of the B.C. Persons with AIDS Society, filed a complaint with Vancouver police over the March release.

"We had hoped the police would have developed some policy around this," he said. "Because this isn't right. And it's not even effective -- how many men who have been with a sex trade worker are going to come out and say so?"

Townson said the criminalization of undisclosed exposure to HIV is contentious enough by itself, since the possibility of becoming a criminal deters people from getting tested for the virus that causes AIDS.

When the possibility that someone's HIV-positive status will be exposed to the media is added to the mix, Townson thinks the support system created around HIV/AIDS patients is "nullified."

"If we want to successfully control this epidemic we have to stay away from hysteria," he said. "The biggest spread of HIV is from people who don't know they're positive, and if you marginalize the HIV-positive, people aren't going to get tested."

Klein believes this is the first case of a sex trade worker being charged for exposing partners to HIV. The fact Whonnock is a sex trade worker has further angered HIV/AIDS support workers.

"I find it really offensive that the police have released her photo and named her," said Ken Clement, executive director of the Healing Our Spirit B.C. Aboriginal HIV/AIDS Society. "It's calling a person guilty before they've had a trial, and it's a lack of respect for individual privacy."

Clement said that while it is up to the HIV-positive person to disclose their status, in this situation the sex trade customer shares responsibility for his exposure.

"It's so incumbent on people engaging in risky behaviour -- you need to ask the hard questions before you engage in that type of activity," he said. "If a John is going to have sex with a worker, he should have some idea that there's risk involved."

Townson agreed. "In this situation it's a woman who's marginalized in several ways, and since men aren't going to come out and admit they've had sex with her, all that's going to happen is this woman is going to have another stigma to carry."

Townson said sex trade customers should know the risks of having unprotected sex with workers, although they don't necessarily heed the warnings.

"Our big concern is we'll find housewives in rural areas infected with HIV through their partners' indiscretions," he said.

The sex trade is not limited to the Downtown Eastside. According to police Whonnock has worked in the Downtown Eastside but also in Burnaby, Maple Ridge, and Bellingham.
she doesn't look like a killer

Boy I'm out of the cruising loop, I didn't even know there was a SW scene in Maple Ridge until I read about it in the local paper recently.

As long as there are guys with dicks there'll be a street scene. I'm sure if you went to an arctic ice flow there'd be an eskimo SW with her seal skin mini skirt.
