Surely these can't be civilian deaths...

The spokesman said the circumstances of the shooting were still under investigation but that a civilian vehicle approached the military base and did not heed warning shots to stop, resulting in U.S. forces opening fire on the vehicle.

I guess there's no disputing it. Like the saying goes "dead men..errr..children, tell no tales". Kind of like the Jebmeister's "shoot first" law.

God, I wish to hell that this would all stop SOON!

A best friend who moved across the country had his son return from Iraq (alive) recently. He's a little twisted from all of that crap though. It sucks, I've known his son since he was born. It's a f*cked up war man.

It would be one thing if it was justified but all that's happening is that bystanders are being killed and more terrorists are being created.

You want it solved?

Create a viable energy alternative to oil - hydrogen cars, whatever. Distribute it cheap to the planet and the ME is suddenly just a big oily sandbox.....after that, if they all nuke each other - then fuck 'em, they've been doing it since the crusades.

Check out this: http://byronw.www1host.com/

Even if there was a free energy device the oil Corp's would not easily give up their profit schemes and we'd still be at it.

When I was in the U.S. Navy (1980's) the submarines extracted oxygen from the seawater. Of course, aside from minerals and salt the byproduct would be Hydrogen.

CaliScott,
I see it's not just the 9/11 WTC7 issue that you think is a cover up...you pretty much are a total conspiracy theorist. I'd love to hear how these simple inventions to make cars run on water or 200+ Mpg carburators have been supressed from every backyard mechanic who'd love to reduce his dependancy on high fuel prices.
Any chance you think the world is flat and that the landing on the moon was done in Universal Studios?

Nuclear subs do that because they stay down for so long. Having a nuclear powered electrolysis plant to produce hydrogen would be pretty expensive.

I would have shot too

Tragic and wasteful - but for the love of tuna, why the hell didn't they stop the car?
Why indeed? I can't blame the guys who shot it up, I'd have an itchy trigger finger myself. Did you see that cement mixer getting blasted ramming the barricades around the hotel in Baghdad? It just kept coming, and then BOOM!

Wow! And what cunning psychic feat did you utilize to asses where I personally stand on the position? Surely you wouldn't have done something as ignorant as ASSume that because I put a link on there I believe 100% of what is contained therein? I believe that I said "Check this out" and that's all.
Some information is possible, you have to prove that you have a viable, working model to Patent it in the first place. He gives some copies of Patents so.... Have I checked out all of them at the U.S. Patent Office? No. Do I care? No becaue Ifeel that it will not change the present situation one iota.

You scoff at the concept of a car running on water all the while ignoring my comment on Submarines seperating oxygen from water. Could it be because you are too dull to come up with an intelligent comment about it?

Of course, you probably didn't bother to check out any of the SUPPORTING documents linked to in there did ya. Nope, the ignorant ones never do.

This proves that you are one of those ignoramuses that believe all that they are told (my god there are a lot of 'em here!).

The truth is is that it was always widely known in Columbus' time that the world was round. His friend was Piri Reis who was the creator of the famous map. There were MANY maps available at the time that were copied from still older maps as Reis' map was.

I know that bro'. I was billeted to work and live aboard the USS SAN FRANCISCO SSN 711 - Los Angeles class(http://navysite.de/ssn/ssn711.htm), on her maiden voyage (Damn, I actually had to look that up, gettin' old!). I have been on a Sturgeon class nuclear powered fast attack to visit (USS Sunfish, SSN-649) A good friend and schoolmate worked there. I would have been the one operating and maintaining the reactor if I had not been transfered to Crypto.

My point is that it's do-able. There is a method to extract the oxygen and so you have Hydrogen left over. All you need to do then is to filter out the other impurities and then store it. I assume that they wouldn't want to store that stuff on a Sub though! I am not sure how much electricity it would use or how much less wattage you could get it to use.

Unfortunatedly it wont stop any time soon. The way of the new empires is to gobble up and control major natural resources of the world.

its a game of checkers being played. More so now , that the sleeping dragon is awakening...

Have you heard of the book "The Grand Chessboard" by Zbignew Brezenski{sp?} ?

That's wild man

The car had a fire tube boiler as I recall, wire wound for strength, and when the boiler was started it took only 45 seconds to get up 600 psi boiler pressure. The sound was muffled. It used a 6 volt blower and atomized fuel oil. Mr. Keen claimed he could drive from Madison to Milwaukee, about 85 miles, on $.85 worth of oil

I wonder what the equivalent is in today's dollars. Still requires a fossil fuel as well. :(

Where'd you find the link?

The problem with electrolysis, is one must expend more energy to extract hydrogen and oxygen, than hydrogen ends up producing. Storage is also a problem, due to the reactivity of these elements. Nuclear subs already have an abundance of electricity, and the energy derived negates the need for hydrogen onboard. Hence, the only useful product being oxygen, and hydrogen being waste.

The formula for this is 1.4 joules of electricity is injected to produce 1 joule of hydrogen, and the accompanying oxygen. On the other hand, (if one was after hydrogen as an energy source) if fossil fuels are used to provide this energy, pollution becomes a problem thereby defeating the benefit of using a fuel cell to achieve this. It would be more efficient to use fossil fuel directly, so we're back to square one. Until a more clever method is discovered, we will continue to chase our own tail.
