A man in the U.K. has contracted a Super Gonorrhoea untreatable with conventional antibiotics. Doctors are now considering what may be the final option.

From the sounds of the story, he had unprotected sex while on vacation in SE Asia.

I realize a fair number of guys hobby in SE Asia and most likely having unprotected sex too.

Food for thought.

Surprised this thread hasn't been deleted yet. I like being healthy so this is just another reason to reconsider this hobby and how much am I willing to risk.

I have to agree with Ms. Hunter, the inclusion of and expectation for bbbj as part of standard gfe service is more prevalent now than when I first started paying for sex. Also, seeing women advertise bbfs or alluding to it in their advertising or texts is something relatively new to me, especially among non Asian sex workers. I can only imagine how often clients ask sex workers for bbfs.

I love gfe type experiences and when available I personally engage in giving and receiving unprotected oral sex. I recognize my activities aren't risk free, but I always assumed, beyond herpes, anything I contracted would be treatable with antibiotics. For now and until this kind of sti/disease becomes more prevalent, I don't think I will change my behaviour.

It's not giving any health advise and is only making people aware of risks particularly those who partake in BB services in Asia. Not saying that's the only place but it was the basis of the BBC report.

Unprotected sex feels better.
Quite true and that is a major reason I bring along female condoms. Partners have agreed its like BB in terms of intimacy yet is safe as traditional male condoms when handled properly.

Is this different a new and different strain than the antibiotic resistant strains that have been here for a couple of years? I know we have had an issue with one transmitted largely by BBBJ that doesn't respond to a combination of azithromycin and ceftriaxone.

For those who have unprotected sex with SP whether is in Vancouver, Thailand or other places like to gamble I guess.( SP is not your wife or GF and have lot of customers ). Vancouver is a major hub with lot of Asian travelers coming and going there is a very good chance this Super Gonorrhoea might end up here too. Lot of Thai ladies tell me that travelers a lot of them ask for sex with no condom and are willing to pay more those smarter say no way and others might go for it I think that's just crazy I always think whats the point of using a condom if you lick on pussy same for bbbj oh well to each its own I guess !

The article mentions a strain that was difficult to treat in Leeds, UK. (I read BBC news frequently)

From the article The main antibiotic treatment - a combination of azithromycin and ceftriaxone - has failed to treat the disease.

They don't mention their next steps in treatment.

No I'm not suggesting that it should be deleted. Just expressing frustration with how topics in the past regarding health have been locked and disappeared as if you're not allowed to mention the negative side of the industry.

It appears to be more common than it used to be. The shock of HIV and AIDS has long worn off. Many of the new people arriving in Canada come from countries where condom use is rare. Canadians travelling to countries where condom use is rare. Certain groups of Canadians are far less likely to use protection. Education among young people is poorly done. Teen pregnancies are very high. Some service providers have mentioned about clients asking for bbfs. The other side is also true; the last few years I have noticed more providers offering bbfs behind closed doors.

Women have told me some immigrants are insulted at the idea of using a condom.
Some become very aggressive..."Are you saying I am dirty?"..."You don't like people from xxx so I have to wear a condom?"
It can be very uncomfortable, or even dangerous.

I wonder if they're actually using the female condom. With enough lube, would their customers know?
Yes, the female condom covers the outer labia too. If you don't see it on the outside, then most likely its not inside her. You couldn't miss it.

I have seen several asian ads on LL that advertise "No C".
I hope that is a reference to BBBJ....

Who ever came up wth the names for these diseases did a great job, the words just sound repulsive .

WTH are people thinking having un protcted sex of any kind, out sde of a longterm comitted relationship ,

I am not being judgmental am just shocked that anyone would mess with thier own health and wellness ,

call me old fashoind but until I find a man who naturally ;) t taste like Godiva Chocolate , I am gonna pass on anything unprotcted :)
If I find a man who tasted like Godiva chocolate, I would have to question my sexual orientation:)

Antibiotics- I was reading somewhere that scientists have not discovered new antibiotics to treat for STD for decades? How accurate is this?

I know 20 years ago doctors weren't supposed to issue antibiotics for people having colds, but they did anyway, when they knew damn well it wasn't going to help the person with the cold.

Another thing was people not taking the prescription long enough to make sure the infection/disease/bug was killed, because people felt better and didn't feel the need to keep taking the antibiotics, which only helped the bug develop an immunity to the antibiotics.

there's also warts, Hep C, HIV and fungus such as Candida... I'm sure there's more too. I don't understand why it's only herpes people are worried about when that is the least problematic of these incurables (although Candida isn't incurable)

Can’t turn a blind eye to the fact bbf* is becoming much more common. Here in Canada

Unprotected sex feels better, but risky to do with multiple partners. But it’s not my business what other adults do in private...it’s my responsibility to protect my own health.
Some of the new condoms feel like you’re not wearing one so there’s no excuse.
