I just ripped Jaws from a buddies DVD using Gordian Knot ripping pack. Believe it or not this is the first time I'm actually bothereing fiddle farting around with ripping DVD's. Usually I just d/l them.
By the way the out-come of my rip was sweet. Good quality and I still have the AC3 sound track

Instead of wasting more time ripping the DVD's why don't you just get a DVD burner instead and burn them?? I've ripped a DVD before and it took endless hours. If you get a decent DVD burner for $150 or less it only takes no more than 2 hours for your own copy. I always do this for my DVD camcorder and distribute them to my family when we do reunions.

I use DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink for burning copying movies. It takes about 1 hour to copy a movie, and about 25 min to do each additional one (at 2x speed). With this I get all the special features that I want and subtitles and soundtracks that they offer. I think that the DVD recorders out there do not copy the whole disk (That I know of)
I hear ya single in van. But the only reason I ripped them to .avi's is to have them on my HDD so they are only a double-clik away from playing. Got a phat HDD and stuck a couple dozen of my fav flicks on it. Ya know the movies you never get tired of watching.
