Hi,

Does anyone here any suggestions for the cellphone provider with a text only cellphone plan? Any pointers please? I looked into the Speakout from 711. Would a prepaid plan make more sense since I am not planning to use much minutes each month so anything for $10/mnth to a one time topup would most effectively do.

Thanks!

Why don't you use a free App that gives you a free local texting number?

You won't need another SIM card and can operate your regular number, and free texting number on the same phone.

There's a piece of information missing. Those recommending a texting app assume that Pgup has a device with a data plan. If he does, OK, texting apps will work.

I don't have a data plan for my phone. I don't need that extra monthly expense. I do have a dual-sim phone. One sim for day-to-day use, another for, well, "other" stuff. My second sim is Speakout. I load it up with $100, usually about once a year. For me, that's less expensive than going with a monthly plan.
