Stupid attraction to accents

While true that some accents sound better than others, I always found it STUPID when a girl tells me she finds a guy sexy because of his accent (almost the same goes for guys who find girls accents sexy, but you know that when a girl finds a guy's accent sexy it encompasses a greater proportion if not all the attraction than if a guy found a girl's accent sexy - and guys are more focused on other things on a girl anyways).

It especially goes for those attracted to the opposite sex because they are status seeking leeches. Well we know what gender tends to do that.

Here's an interesting article that mentions the development of the British accent, by way of comparison between American and British ones.

I'ma sucker for a Aussie accent....But that probably has something to do with a young ,tall ,perfectly proportioned ,slender, knows how to fill out a dress with knee high leather boots flowing up to a heart shaped ass...,Goddess that I do business with on a regular basis, and I won't cross that line, and neither will she....I'm pretty sure......Stupid unwritten Cowboy code!

What was I talking about again?

My accent seems to have being one of my best features on occasion... the attraction for a few women started with my accent, though I don't think it always lasted.

And maybe it is stupid for someone to be attracted to me based on my accent, but it strokes my ego nicely :)

lower mainland.
Probably no different that one being attracted to tall, short, blonde or brunette. Personal preference is the very reason we enjoy so many variances in ……well heck. Almost everything.

I'm all for racial/ethnic diversity. Haven't had a girlfriend of my own country of origin since I was a teenager.
And we have noticed that kids of mixed couples are often brighter as well (that genetic diversity suggestion).
My kids are bright, and from mothers of quite different ethnic stock.

Actually, it's not stupid to be attracted by foreign accents, it's actually pretty smart and related to brain development and evolution. There's a scientific basis behind it.

As the human brain has evolved one of our drivers is diversification of our gene pool. Therefore, many people are attracted to foreign cultures and accents due to an underlying perception that diversifying our gene pool will make us stronger.

Some people are not and there's ample evidence of "own accent" bias ( even going back to the Bible where certain tribes were killed if they couldn't pronounce certain words "correctly".

Accents are a fact of life as the world becomes smaller. I've read even goats bah in different accents depending what part of the world they live.

The fascinates me is why certain accents are sexier than others (ie British and French are routinely surveyed as the sexiest accents compared to , say German or East Indian ).

For me, I've always been a sucker for a Latina accent. Sophia Vergara could read the phone book and I'd get turned on.

That sounds like a whole lot of rationalization to me.

Here's a sociological reason (rather than your evolutionary reason) why this is so:

You ever hear women endlessly complain, "there's no good men in this city"?

Even in a city of 3 million, they can't find any good men? Then someone from say, Russia, comes along and despite him being basically the same (similar wealth, similar values), they fall madly in love?

That's because women are the ones being approached, and the instant you seem like everyone else to them, they get dulled to it. There's a filter that won't give a man in her own area much of a chance because she instantly has this "heard that before, oh you're this kind of guy, or oh you're that kind of guy", etc.

In her head she's also thinking, "well maybe guys from another country won't find me a bitch", or "maybe I can tell a foreigner what to do and he won't complain", or "maybe he comes from a country where it's way easier to be wealthy than here", or "maybe he'll put up with my being fat".

It's the grass is greener on the other side mentality.

Yeah, much like using rationale and logic to explain the actions and motivations of an irrational creature.

Brilliant!

Not.

Really, you lump German in with East Indian........you are a cruel individual. But then so am I and I have found that my German accent works really well in the BDSM scene.:p

I find it interesting how some people really love accents and others don't or don't care for it.

I have a closed group face book page with only ladies who follow me, I post some videos here and there about something I don't want to say in here and I talk and they always tell me that they can listen me to talk all day.
When I listen the video back, some words I don't even understand what I said. Lol
Oh well, life is great and fun enjoy it you have accent or not as long as you are trying your best in that country where you live so the locals can understand you.

I'm immune to accents - having had one myself because I was an immigrant who after many years here, finally has lost 95% of it. Most Canadians can't tell I wasn't born here but occasionally you can hear my old accent coming out. English is still a 2nd language to me as I have to do a bit of rethinking before I speak in English.

That is why accents mean nothing to me in terms of attraction - it has nothing to do with personal achievement, you're just born with it wherever you grow up speaking. It is as inconsequential to that person as the hairs in their nostrils.

I'm much more impressed with people who can speak multiple languages. For the same reason, I don't understand why CBC girls think they are such hot shit - so what if you're Asian and you can speak English fluently - 50% of the world speaks English in non-English speaking countries, it's not great feat of accomplishment. Now if you're an Asian girl and you can speak Czech, ok now that is impressive.
