Okay, okay...enough already.
In an attempt to reel this thread in and get back on topic, let me clarify or elaborate on a few things.
If "these systems all of a sudden disappeared' you would have a whole shitload more "poor" people living in cardboard boxes in parks while the wealthy would find a way to get by just fine.
I pay my taxes and donate a ton to charity as is, probably more than 99% of the people out there, there's no need to overwhelm me looking for more. Especially at this time of year when most people are giving to support their own egos and not doing so at any other time of the year.

So the local community was inadvertently done a favour...great...let the neighbourhood take up a collection to help them get started in another new neighbourhood. That building was kind of what was deemed as an eyesore in the economically evolving community. But it was low income housing that sheltered people struggling to get by. That particular low income housing was not one of the nicest places that someone could pick (it's nickname was "the zoo")
Well...I'm assuming all of the tenants could afford cable tv and some of them probably smoke, drink alcohol, or have pets and can afford pet food and they chose all or some of that in place of a NECESITY such as monthly insurance instalments. Not 1? Sorry but I don't think so.That means that not 1 of those people had enough money for any luxuries, which in this case home insurance would be.
Go fuck yourself. With the amount of hours and travel time I put in, and the stress associated with running a large business, I've earned every penny of it. Of course for assholes like you, it must really appear that life is much easier when you work to separate yourself from the pack, taking a leadership position, and over achieve than it is to stay with the masses or under achieve.Hmmm...they took you for a whole $90 to $100K in payroll taxes alone. It sounds like you're pretty hard done by.
Bingo! I too have a number of charities that I consistently support throughout the year and not just around Christmas time like a lot of the hypocrites out there who donate around that time just to make THEMSELVES feel good. I wish I had more time to give (I do make the best of what I have) but I feel it's more than made up by the 4 to 5 figure collective donations I make during the year. However, after this recent Christmas season I'm actually suffering from "donor fatigue". I have a number of charities I support with both my time and money and refuse to be guilted into supporting something else I haven't had the time to properly research.
Exactly..thank you.So he makes a healthy living, whats wrong with that? Why should he feel guilty about it? Why should the government take a disproportionally large chunk out of his ass?
Exactly again. Agreeing with and quoting you is far easier than telling everybody just to fuck right off! I can't understand people just don't get it.Its not about feeling bad. Its about people taking the responsibility to look after their own affairs. With the situation in Surrey the media clearly can't go into the details of everyone who's been displaced by the fire but if past history is any indication of their situation everyone could have made minor lifestyle changes (i.e. smoking less) to cover the cost of their insurance. If some of the residents are suffering from severe mental illness or otherwise not of sound enough mind to have that responsibility then maybe they shouldn't be living on their own.
Bullshit! So where did I use the word "entitled", asshole? However, he used the word "entitled" when describing those that are not as fortunate.
What's nauseating is arrogant pricks like you who think they know everything. Well to do? It sure didn't start out that way. I remember starting at the very bottom without any post secondary education, in a warehouse, earning $8,000 per year, at which time I still found a way to INSURE MY OWN SHIT! Did I get help? Sure did and I'm very appreciative of that, which is why I don't really mind paying my share tax wise, donate to charity, and teach younger people coming up about our particular business. The thing that is so nauseating when you hear well-to-do people take this position is that they feel that they achieved their position soley out of their own hard work, smarts, etc. without benefit from the social systems (and our Canadian society as a whole) in place. Its as if they believe they got to where they are in a vacuum with no help from anyone.
That's just plain stupid. Get off your fucking soapbox and get a reality check. These social systems that are in place benefit the wealthy FAR MORE than they do the poor. If you ask yourself the question - "who has far more to lose if these systems all of a sudden disappeared?", who do you think would suffer the greatest losses?
