Stinky Garbage

G

So I've been doing my share in recycling wet garbage. I keep a small container by the sink and put the food garbage in there until it fills up, and then I take it down to my big green recycle bin for weekly pick up. The problem is while the small container fills up with "stuff", it stinks awful. Just like a dishwasher stinks with dirty dishes while it waits for a full load.

Any advice from all you smart people out there?:help:

Put it in a compostable bag and reserve a space in your crisper bin in your fridge or your freezer. Keeps the fruit flies away in the summer too.

I use a sealed container.
A 3 gallon bucket with a lid that has a rubber seal around the rim, I think it's an old food container that commercial food comes in like ice cream or pickles.
I also don't have garbage and recycling pick up and have to compost everything myself.
So I just empty it when it's a few days old, and rinse the container clean.
If you have a back yard you could buy one of those black plastic compost bins, and take care of it yourself, instead of being at the mercy of someone else picking it up for you.

Our municipality supplies us all with a small food scrap container for the kitchen which snaps shut and doesn't smell unless opened.

We use a kitchen compost container. A green square one with a sealed lid with a charcoal filter top. Keeps the smell down and keeps the fruit flies out. When close to full it goes in our compost pile.

I just use a cheap plastic tupperware-like container from the dollar store, and keep it in the freezer. Takes up no space, and doesn't even need a lid, so it's easy to dump things into.

Yes, my container has a lid too but every time I open it, I had to hold my breathe. Sounds like refrigerating is the way to go. thank you all.

Hey, you're the fellow who was asking about hotels frequented by escorts so you can "sneak out down the hall" while with your family. Keep it up man! - no pun intended.
