Stay off the road if you can't handle the conditions.

So there we are on Dec. 26th coming back from Whistler at night. It's snowing a bit, there's some snow on the road, but nothing serious if you know what you are doing, and you have a properly equipped vehicle. Trip north took just over 4 hours, normally 2, trip south already delayed because of some idiot humping a Beamer with his truck. Got to that and got to BOB. South of BOB it was four plowed lanes with just a little snow, but some dumb broad was on the road riding two lanes, back and forth, never crossing the white line completely with some piece of shit car doing about 30 k. My SO was two cars behind her, and I was a couple cars back from that. I managed to get in behind this broad and nailed her with my high beams. She didn't move, just fiddled with the mirror. At this point my SO and I are side by, behind her, so a bit pissed at this point we decided to sandwich her. I pulled to the right of her, my SO to the left, high beams on and we left her shitting herself in the middle of the road. Then we watched in the rear-views as everybody else blew by her as well as she sat there. Did I mention, we were driving buses, big ass eight ton stainless steel buses ? Some of us are on the road, because we have to be, that's where we make a living. If you are out just because you can be or want to be, just remember not everybody has all the time in the world to get around. Fuck with my time and my income on the road, and I will drive you off the road. Just my rant.

Why would you fuck around and put people's lives in danger just because you're in a hurry?

When you decided to do this for a living you knew you'd run into situations like this all the time, didn't you? Its not just your road. BTW...you don't "have to be" on the roads. You are choosing to make your living doing this.

Happy holidays to you.
I agree with rokhard here uncleg, this girl was obviously not as experienced as you & your attitude toward her was in no way helpful to anybody else on the road & could have resulted in harm to her.

Pull your head out of your ass & try to show a little Christmas spirit for a change!

Maybe she did have somewhere important to go and she was being cautious with the road conditions. Pass her when you have an opportunity. You don't own the roads and what you did was a bit selfish only thinking about yourself only.

Ok. I have to chime in on this. I drive a bus and tractor-trailers as well. Is it frustrating that others may lack the experience, skills, or fortitude to drive in adverse weather/traffic conditions? Yes, of course it is. Try having a car cut you off in a snowstorm when your vehicle weighs 62.5 tonnes...frustration to the tenth power.

You have to reel yourself in man. You can't just use the size of your vehicle to intimidate everyone else because they're driving passively. I've heard of commercial drivers who have been FIRED for tailgating people through the mountains. Someone's going too slow for you? Just suck it up and back off; that's all you can safely do.

No wonder the motoring public tends to cast a negative light on the transport industry. Consider yourself lucky if this woman doesn't report you. Don't forget that's probably someone's wife, daughter, mother who could have easily ended up dead because you exacerbated an already precarious situation. You know who would have been charged? I'm guessing not her. At least we're not hearing about it on the news today...

uncleg should chill yes, but this government should keep the idiots off the road!! such as driving like a snail in the passing lane on the highway in the middle of the midnight rush during saturday night!

i don't think uncleg truly meant to kill this girl but only to each her a lesson. but in any case where this girl panics and on her own loses the control of the car! the judge would say it's uncleg's fault but i'd say she deserves it! people needs to take responsibility and take the consequences of their own action!
You are KIDDING, right:confused:

I am not afraid of winter conditions, living in the mountains in Banff and Canmore, you get over that very quick. BUT, I live in Vancouver, have all seasons and my car is "older". SO, knowing this, I take precautions, slow down and go at a speed that I feel I am in control of.

If some idiot feels more comfortable speeding ( always think it is funny to see so many in the ditch up ahead) then by all means, pass me as that is YOUR right.

I think it is extremely arrogant to assume she chose to be on the road, doesn't know how to drive or is stupid.

Arrogance at it's finest.

Life is too fucking short to chance "sandwiching" a vehicle with your SO no less on the sea to sky.

The only ones lacking judgement are the two risking their lives to "make a point"..... guess the "pat yourself on the back" was worth.... but may not be the next time.

Well said, Aynia!

Drive in the right, pass on the left.

Simple as that. I've driven far too much this week and have seen so many dip shit's that shouldn't be on the road.

Why would someone put chains on the rear tires of a front wheel drive vehicle? And those people who think ONE snow tire is just fine. And tose dolts who think bald ass tires are OK.

I sure wish the government would enforce the same standards on personal vehicles that they do on commerical vehicles. That would certainly help in the bone heads on the road.

How about people who don't clean the foot of snow caked on their roofs just waiting to come sliding down their windshield and blinding them and driving into another vehicle or some person walking the sidewalk?

The police were pulling over cars who didn't remove the snow (when it was all powdery) a few days ago, I saw on the news.

But yes, tailgating, sandwiching, highbeam flashing, wtf? An accident waiting to happen. If she had pulled over to let people pass, she could very well have gotten herself stuck in the middle of nowhere. I highly doubt intimidation tactics like this are very effective to calming down a nervous driver. I wish more people would drive at 30km in adverse conditions, but time after time we see idiots on the road driving like there isn't any snow and that they can stop without any problem.

FYI, a 4 year old in Coquitlam was killed by a neighbours car the other day because they decided they had to drive themselves somewhere and they couldn't control their car in these conditions.

from what I read

sounds like the driver that offended you was handling the conditions quite well. Sorry to say this it is inconsiderate dickheads that crowed other cars that can't handle the situation. yes you may have more experience in such weather yes you may have better skills and yes you may have a vehicle that is better suited to the conditions BUT you have no right to crowed another vehicle. I'm just sorry there wasn't a cop to ticket the two of you. personally I slow down even further when I'm tailgated. in any condition.

I know how good my driving is do you?

Wow, I've been driving quite a bit the last couple of weeks, mostly in the lower mainland in pretty lousy conditions. For the OP, the rule is to drive defensively, that sure sounded offensively!
Since you had enough room to sandwich, why didn't you both just pass the driver on the left? Two buses passing on the left would have been plenty of hint to give a bit more room on the left and stay in the right lane. Nothing wrong with going 30 km/hr in snow/compact snow/slippery conditions.

BTW folks, the roads may look better today, but with the temperatures hovering just above zero there is still plenty of ice around. Take it easy out there!

I don't know for sure; but I do know that they recommend putting your best tires (such as if you only put two snow tires on) on the rear even if you have front wheel drive. The reasoning is to better prevent fish tailing. Perhaps this is why they put the chains on the back.

I'm with uncleg on this one. If you're driving a car that has no business being on the road, why are you on the road? I was laughing my ass off going up-hill in my 4WD SUV while others were fishtailing and sliding to a stop up Boundary Road on Saturday. What the fuck did you expect with no snow tires on a RWD car and no chains? Why should I have to be inconvenienced by your dilinquency?

Why would you drive in the middle of a two-lane road anyway? And not let anyone else pass. I don't care if you feel safe driving 30km/h in an 80km/h zone. You have no business being on the road in your shitty Tercel anyway.

Why else did it suck driving in Richmond? The first snowflake falls and all of a sudden its "icy" and it's 20km/h driving, even if the snow on the ground is the same as slush.

Be careful of what you boast about

I wonder if ucleg heard about the Vancouver hot rodder who boasted on youtube about doing over 200 kph? Seems Vancouver police are looking into his youtube video as possible evidence.

Did ucleg consider that his boss might be a perb member, and might disapprove of his conduct. There is enough detail that his boss should have no difficulty in identifying ucleg.

bah...

While I do agree with uncleg and sandyshi on the fact that the "broad's" driving was dangerous and irresponsible. I also do believe that if you sees another driving in a disagreeable manner, it is not your place to discipline or "teach him/her a lesson". That is for the police and other road officials.

You have to understand that there will be idiots, morons, and dimwits on the road. Unfortunately you have to suck it up and, most importantly, drive responsibly for yourself--not sandwich other cars with your SO (ESPECIALLY in a bus! I sure hope you didn't have a load of passengers or some of them might have shit their pants too)

Um...in short: don't be a dumbass because someone else is too!
