Residents of Vancouver have been engaging in extra-marital affairs in record numbers according to new data from AshleyMadison.com.

The dating site designed for people already in relationships has decided to reveal Vancouver’s least faithful neighbourhoods based on the more than 55,000 cheaters who live there.

According to membership per capita, the most affair seekers live in West Vancouver (replacing previous number one spot holder, Kitsilano), with Shaughnessy and Kitsilano rounding out the top three neighbourhoods for cheaters.

Richmond – 6.7%
Here’s some additional data the dating site dug up in their research:

44% of philanderers in Vancouver are female (average age 39)

Adulterers in Burnaby have the most children on average

Kerrisdale’s cheaters have the most affair partners

According to AshleyMadison.com Founder and CEO, Noel Biderman, affluence is a common element found on most cities’ top ten lists. “The proclivity to cheat often goes hand in hand with opportunity. Those with discretionary income and freedom to travel are even more likely to stray.”

critical thinking 101
first two questions to ask:
who is delivering the message and what the message is.
so we have a website that promotes extra marital affairs giving statistics that those that do stray are the more affluent in society.
ok so who benefits from this conclusion? i would say ashley madison as they get to sell the fact that their clients are from vancouvers upper crust.
where? vancouver
how? how the fuck did they gather this data with any certainty?
why? see who and what

Internet data mining is pretty damn accurate, regardless of fake usernames etc. The assembly of the data is pretty lazy though. Why they singled out Mackenzie Heights vs the entire region of Surrey is suspect.

data mining can figure out if you cheat... with acceptable certainty? no i dont buy it.
the statistics are based on membership anyways so that point is irrelevant
the statistics only reveal the cheaters that use the AM site nothing else
and ultimately the what is skewed by the who that is delivering the message

Another variable is the cost to be on an ashley madison website. People from rich neighborhoods might be willing to pay for the option, while other guys would prefer using plenty of fish in new west or maple ridge because they prefer to engage in affairs at lower cost.
