Devo (the musicians) hate Liberals. Sorry to break the news to you.
Devo are not Canadians; they probably don't know anything at all about Liberals.
The only political statement from a member of Devo that I could find on a quick google search is this from an Interview with Gerald V. Casale of Devo, where it is clear he was not happy with the Supreme Court decision that determined the winner of the 2000 election:
"Wil: What's your take on the 2000 election? One more step down the scale? (On a side note, I recently came across reports that DEVO would be at the 2001 Inauguration, but it turned out that the "DEVO" they were referring to was some sort of sports mascot.)
Gerald: It was groundhog day. The forces of fear and hatred won with the help of a corrupt Supreme Court. They went for a right wing military junta much like people in South America do. They want to go back in time because they fear the future. People voted against the environment, against women's rights, against world peace, against balancing the budget and against themselves. They did this because Gore was so inept that he couldn't even sell a winning platform. The media was able to easily convince the public that there was no difference between the Democrats and the Republicans. That's almost true. But with Gore there would not have been an abrupt increase in the suffering and pain in the lives of average people that there now will be."
On the Devo website, there is a quote from an interview where Casale gives a more recent opinion of Sarah Palin (in the context of their art concept of Devolution, which basically means we are all getting stupider): "What do you make of Sarah Palin's bus tour across America to historic sites?
Casale: Say no more. We rest our case. We've often said this, but if somebody in 1980 with a crystal ball had showed you the world in 2011, you would have thought it was a cheap, B-movie sci-fi dystopia that would in fact never happen, and dismissed it. Now it's here, in all of its horror. You talk about stupid, you can't beat Sarah Palin!"
So, I couldn't find anything about their opinion of the Liberal Party of Canada, but at least one member doesn't seem to be enamoured of the Bush administration or of Sarah Palin. They do seem to be against stupidity in all of its forms, though.
