If you have been into Starbucks over the last few years, you would notice that on their mugs they had a Cdn price of 19.95 / US price of 14.95 as an example. Well over the last few months and especially weeks, they have been clearing all their stores of old merchandise, because they said that their were getting rid of that sort of pricing. So all the new stock has arrived and that mug now has one price, 19.95!!!!!

So the Cdn dollar is 1.05 approx, and we are still getting shafted, but now we are supposed to know by how much.

If it is not cars, or books, or cell phone rates, then its coffee mugs. What the hell is it with us Canadian, we are just so used to paying so much more than anyone else. I dont expect US pricing because their are economies are scales and geography that make us different to the US market place. But come on, split the difference for crying out loud.

If you don't like it, don't buy it. There are a lot of consumer goods that are not a necessity. If enough people don't purchase something, the price will come down.

Heck, even Ford has dropped their prices due to demand.

Y'know I hear this all the time, but I can't think of a single drink at *$ that's more than $5. People always say stuff like "*$ is so expensive it's more than $5 for a coffee" yet fail to mention that a regular cup of joe there is about $2 just like Timmy's or any other coffee shop.

Don't get me wrong, they are expensive, but I just get tired of the exaggerated rhetoric when it comes to their prices.

Even if you pay $5 for a gourmet coffee, a pint of horsepiss at the local watering hole still more $, so with that in mind it doesn't seem like such a big deal.

Kinda equally addicted to Starbucks lattes and Tim's double doubles. On rare occasions I will buy merchandise at Starbucks but I always wait until it goes on sale. They usually blow it out after a certain time.

I was in Victoria a couple of years ago and tried a place called Serious Coffee. I thought their lattes were better than Starbucks. There is a place in Calgary called the Roasterie on 10th St NW that has great coffee.

Anyone have any recommendations?

no coffee in timmy's is over $2. 1.60 for a xl.
Not in Alberta - 1.75

Agree with the excessive Starbucks-bashing.

You won't pay more for a latte or cafe au lait there than at a regular coffee shop - and regular coffee's about the same. Maybe a bit more expensive, but not by much.

Offer to pay them in USD???

they probably will honour that.....I don't particularly care for their coffee, but their breakfast sandwiches and customer service are pretty good.

its not just Canadians that are getting shafted.

I have been looking at a new digital camera. Nothing fancy, but its MSP in the US is US$299 and in Canada is CDN$399. So I've been waiting, hoping the Canadian price would go down.
A few days ago I saw that camera in a "duty free" (hah!) shop in an international airport (not in the US or Canada) and the asking price was, choke, US$650!!!
