For all of my fellow nerds and geeks here and sci fi lovers… which one is your favourite and why? If no favourite why?

Myself I grew up more of a Trekkie, and the original and STNG were my favourites. I just found the characters to be very relatable and loved how it combined science fiction with science fact. I also find it so interesting how Gene Roddenberrys visions came to be real… like for example the flip phone was inspired by the communication devices, and became real.

BUT I have come to love Star Wars more over the years and have a big soft spot for the entire franchise too. I do cosplay, and Leia is one of my absolute favourites. I always admired her character… she was a beautiful princess but she also could kick ass, and didn’t take any shit… she wasn’t afraid of Darth or anyone.

Oh… and one of my biggest geeking out moments was meeting Mirina Sirtis and LeVar Burton at the 2020 Fan Expo, where I told Mirina she had nice boobs (yes I had a huge crush on her!) and she told me I had nice boobs… and LeVar agreed. I won’t lie I was envisioning a threesome with them both a lot after that.

So which is your favourite… or maybe you like both!

Check your closet..:)
STNG....

WORF: The Romulans are attacking.
PICARD: All Officers to my ready room.
WORF: Shouldn't we do something.
PICARD: We need a meeting to discuss our course of action.

What do you like about each? Curious.
I was a kid when the original Star Trek came out and I was hooked right off the bat. I liked Spocks character as well as Scotty.I was 11 years old when Star Wars came out and saw it in our dumpy little theater in Parksville, for its time the special effects were mind boggling. Darth Vader was so bad ass, he could use the force to choke people!!!!

My fave of all? “The Expanse”, hands down!!

ok, back on track, lol!
I’ll always be Star Wars #1. The mythology, the (unrealistic) space battles that play out like WW2 movies, the broad scope, the LIGHTSABERS! 😍😍 Ever since I watched the snow speeders try to tackle the AT-AT’s on Hoth, I’ve been a Jedi-wannabe, lol!

But I do have respect and enjoy Trek. Never got into all the seriesor the original but I enjoy the optimism of them all, the sense that “humanity will prevail, good people will prevail”. The focus on stories rather than fight scenes (tho somewere weaker than others, something present in every series. The stories that reflect on todays society. All good stuff.

I enjoyed Star Trek more as a kid, especially Deep Space 9 as the story had a lot development. TNG got better after the first season but doesn't hold a space in my heart as much as DS9. Voyager was my first introduction to Star Trek as it was still broadcasting. As I grew older the series annoyed the hell out of me since they were somfar from home but the ship was always in optimal condition.

I think the newer Disney + series for Star War made me more interested in the lore and makes me want to try some of the old games. The acting in most of the non original trilogy is meh.

Speaking of Gene Roddenberry, I recall Andromeda was all about the sex appeal lol. I do miss Firefly, it felt like the live action Cowboy Bepbop

Star Trek TNG ftw. Watch Inner Light, it will change your life! Lol

Crusher or Troi?? For me it’s Crusher hands down smoking hot red head who I’d looooove to do filthy things to!
I say Troy… I think she was part of my sexual awakening of being bisexual. Meeting her in person, I was crushing and geeking so hard. She still has fabulous boobs, too!

Another thing I've enjoyed about Star Wars - there's SO many good games that have come out from it. I can't think of any Star Trek games, but so many SW games (FPS, RPG, flight) that have been a ton of fun!

I know "game quality" may not coincide with "show/film quality" but its another part of what keeps SW a little closer to my heart :)

The TNG episode where Picard gets 'scanned' by the probe and lives an entire lifetime, still, in my mind, stands out as one of the best ever Sci-Fi episodes. Whereas the Star Wars franchise has all the effects there was always a slightly tongue in cheek feeling about it. I for one, don't really favour one over the other. Both have been fantastic movie / tv tracks pretty much throughout my life.

Trek the original was fantastic when it first came out. Like Dr Who some of the effects look cheesy now because we are spoiled.
TNG was good but the moralising went overboard.
Voyager was brutal except for 7 of 9.

Star Wars is wildly inconsistent. Most movies are awful but Rogue One is really good especially if you are a diehard fan.
Rebels is my favourite, a great story arc and character development.
Mandalorian is close second, there’s more to it than meets the eye. So much detail.

I have a soft spot for both, but Star Trek gets the slight edge because so many episodes of TNG are big defining points of my childhood. Plus, I along with many other kids thought Riker was just so damn cool.

Also don’t forget a young Famke Janssen in the episode The Perfect Mate. What girl wouldn’t go bi for her??
