This is a great forum, very informative. Do you think the sp's are doing this because they acutally enjoy their work or are they doing because of other circumstances mainly because they are drug users?

Um... I do it because of the hours and flexibility, and, well, I do have lots of fun ;). I can only really do it on the evenings and weekends (with a couple of day time appts available some weeks); if I were to go get a full-time job at those times, I'd be waitressing - been there, done that, swore I'd never do it again - too many cranky people.

My clients doing *this* arrive happy and leave happier. Now *that's* a job!

Funny/ironic thing is, with my training and experience, I could go out and get a $50K to $60K or more/year job in a high-profile office... but then I'd have to work M-F 9-5- something that is not possible nor attractive for how my life is at the moment.

dumb question
It's really a personal choice isn't it? This is just me but pot is no big deal and not because I smoke it on a reg basis either, maybe three times a year max. It's relatively harmless. But anything harder I wouldn't be comfy around. But the bottom line is, unless it's a close personal friend or family member, mind yer own bizness.

doesn't it make more sense that most of them do it because they can make a ridiculous amount of money doing it? not that anyone works this much but if a SP worked 40 hours a week @ $200 per hour for 50 weeks a year, that's 400k annually.

in any business where there are high incomes, particularly cash incomes, substance abuse and other financial leaks (bad investments, gambling significant others, etc.) is rampant. a lot of the highly paid sales execs i know from past jobs have alcohol and coke problems. however, there are a lot of them who make good choices and aren't involved in that downward spiral.

i'm sure the same applies to SP's. some of them are smart about it and save the money so that they can retire (early hopefully), and others get caught up in the vices and end up in daily hell.

While it's appreciative that you wonder about SPs well being, it's downright offensive that you paint all SPs as drug users. Get a life or better yet, see all the SPs in the Lower Mainland and report back to the board with final analysis on drug use amongst providers. I think you'd be surprised.

A lot of SPs use the drugs to cope with being in this industry however it doesn't take long before they spiral out of control and leave the business it's better for them that they retire. And there are recreational users. And there are those who don't the stuff, I'm in that camp alcohol included. I've seen some amazing girls who've started out a shining star then dabble until they lost everything and pull themselves out of the funk and continue in the business making a profit, those girls are a rarity.

That sounds too conservative.
I think a really motivated SP can work 12 hours a day, Monday thru Saturday, and do a half-day on Sunday (gotta go to church, ya know), at $300 an hour, 51 weeks a year.
That's 78 X 51 X $300 = $1,193,400. And hardly any taxes!
No wonder so many of them do it.

Love my work..

GREAT Fun!... meet great people.. make your own schedule/hours... take time off anytime you want to.. not work when you dont want to... be your own boss.. not take any flack (sp?) from anyone...live in a nice home... get paid in 2 hours what most females in the working world make in 2 weeks/35hrs wk... hmmmmmmmm ... let me see... why do I do it? :D

I tried both sides of the workforce. I wouldnt give this up for that.
EVERY single person I have met has been awesome. I get spoiled, treated like a lady, and always treated kindly. I love this job. Sorry.. I don't qualify for your *generalization* of SP's.;)

hugs

that's good to hear. I wasn't generalizing. I haven't visited a SP yet. (but soon =) . I just won't want to do it with a druggy. I guess if this biz is making $1 mil a year, heck , if I had the bod, I'd be working too =)

ispep:

I think we experienced Perbians are pulling the old Ispep leg a little. SP's do not make anything close to the above amounts of money. Do a little thinking on it. $100,000 is top-notch money for this work. Most of the ones that last have to:
- Prepare and clean-up from each client
- Attend to their phone calls and e-mails (a huge amount of doofi/chintzoids)
- Plan their advertising
- Keep the toenails, claws, hair and body in shape
- Go to the bank, pay their bills, deal with the landlord, fix the toilet, etc.
- Shop for the food, wine, condoms, lingerie, candles, vibrators, school-girl outfits, whips and chains, lotions, creams, etc.
- Visit their relatives and friends, go to movies, out to dinner, etc,
- Have their periods (no boinky-boinky when the Red Army is in town for 4 or 5 days)
- A bunch of other stuff I probably have no clue about
- And, they undoubtedly do take more holidays than the average person (a break from the stress of always being "on stage" is necessary).

None of these gals works half the time some brain-dead people on here think they do or earn the huge sums of money the chintzy bastards that try and underpay them think either. I know much of this from having had a "public performance" type consulting career for 20+ years. Every few months or so some former client of mine who got fired would phone me up trying to find out how to get into consulting and rake in the big cash. It was always the same -- they all thought I was earning an astounding amount of money because my daily rate was over $1000. I took a rather fiendish pleasure in explaining just how long it took to get ready to be worth that $1000+. Very few of these guys ever made it into consulting successfully.

One question ispep: Is there an "isn'tpep"?

That is so... 1950's.

Nobody today needs to go through with having her period with so many high-tech birth control methods around.

Those placebos in your grandmother's b.c. packet were only there so she didn't mix-up the calendar. She never needed to take them.

These days you can happily splice the three-week sets of pills together and regulate your period to happen when you want it, and only if you want it at all.

Now they'll tell you (perhaps even here) about high levels of estrogen and other, similar responses to doing that, but biologically speaking, periods no longer equate to mandatory time-off each month for a working girl.

Dude, think if she could set up half of those hours as 2 guy DP sessions! That's nearly $1.8 M!

She might not shit right for the rest of her life but hey, she could buy a lot of pain killers for that sort of coin!

(kidding, kidding)

Actually, drug use in this business is a lot more systemic than some here would have you believe...

In fact, using conventional statistical methods, I would dare categorize it as epidemic...

Some of the most preferred are ecstasy, cocaine and marijuana. And there are others...

One clue is the strong bodily odors frequent drug users give off.

Same as everyone else!!!

I don't think SP's are any different than the rest of the general population as far as drug use goes.

You forgot meth and crack, probably the 2 most prevalent.

As for the body odors, are u saying the smell comes "thru" even if the SP is freshly showered?
