Speeding Ticket in Ontario

Recently I received a speeding ticket on a trip to Ontario. I have concerns about the officer issuing the ticket, however, trying to file a dispute would be pretty hard as I do not intend to return to Ontario for another year.

The ticket is for $107.50. If I pay it, how does it affect my driving record in BC. And if I don't pay it, will Ontario come after me here?

Go to points or one of the other national companies that fight tickets and let them handle it, don't just ignore it! It will come back and bite you in the ass and cost you more than the $107.50, much more!

Speaking from experience, I ask you how so?

On the financial level, if it goes to collections it'll show up on your credit score and if the company is determined enough and takes it to small claims you have the additional costs associated with that. On the judicial level they could issue a bench warrant, non-returnable which would show up every time you get stopped by the locals, which would generally lead to some additional jerking around by them. Also, since it would just sit in the system, next time in Ontario and you have any contact with the law prepare for a tetanus shot. Then there is the border, traffic tickets don't get you barred, outstanding warrants do.

I have to admit, cops in BC are much nicer then the douchebags in Brampton. My dealings with the RCMP and VPD when being pulled over for traffic violations prove that officers in BC have more compassion and care then then dipshits in Brampton that pulled me over. He had the underpaid big man syndrome that American Police officers share.

I was taking some of my college in Kansas City. I friend of mine there was an out of state student, he had a speeding ticket, and handful of parking ticket he never paid. He was pulled over for speeding, and when the cop enters him into the system, it shows a warrant for arrest. In his case, the cop then arrested him, somewhat physically. Nothing major, but enough to shake him up, then jail overnight. Released the next day when someone took in payment for all his fines.

I am sure Ontario is less harsh, but just pay it, if you were speeding

Nope...it won't affect your BC driving record at all. BC has its own provincial Act...the Motor Vehicle Act...as does Ontario.....they don't share info. A conviction there on a ticket is meaningless here in BC...so pay it!
