Just a heads up to all Vancouver drivers that apparently the city is gonna be turned into a giant speed trap tomorrow between morning and afternoon.

I can find better things to do with 200 bones than hand them over to the govie. Well the fact that I've disputed and won 90% of my tickets (due to cop no shows) is besides the point, but it's still a fukkin hassle having to go to the courthouse at 9am, that ain't no fukkin picnic.

Errrrr ... then of course there's the totally weird possibility of NOT speeding as a solution to this problem?

See what happen when you speed on a motorcycle, this is a big problem here in Edmonton. The Groat Road for you fine folks that don't know it is a curvy road that leads down to the river valley. The racing bikes love to see how they can lean for one side to another as they travel though this area at very high speed. Last night one them wasn't watching what he was doing. Read this and see if speed traps are worth the time.

Radar?

So the thing I don't understand is why do the officers in British Columbia stand in the road with there orange traffic jackets on? They are easy to see if you are watching. Here in Washington State the serious traffic officers are on motorcycles. They stop on the side of the Interstate or secondary roads and turn around while mounted on there bikes and radar or laser you and they got ya. They melt right into the background and you really have to keep an eye out for them.
Other officers in cars pull to the side of the road and park partially behind something to conceal there cruisers. A parked truck or garbage dumpster seems to be a favorite for concealment. Also wach the overpasses on Interstate 5 it's a favorite of the State Patrol.
So SZabina in answer to your question, don't speed tomorrow or better yet stay home an have a relaxing day and smile baby smile :) .

Imagine if they raised all the speed limits by 10K and then imposed a no-tolerance policy...

I was warned by my friend in Seattle about the overpass trick. Sure enough, I saw at least one sitting up there each way every trip I made. They are almost invisible thru the guard rails. They also park way the hell up on the embankment that edges up beside the overpass. And to answer your question about the vests Dave, its all about safety up here. Even the staff in grocery stores have to wear them if they go out in the parking lot to collect carts or help customers load their groceries.

Personally I think they are a day late on the crack down. There was a fifteen car pile up during rush hour today caused by 2 or 3 asshats street racing...did I mention the part where it was rush hour? I'm not saying I am above having a lead foot at times myself, but I think only a total idiot would get into a street race, which is nothing more then a pissing contest on wheels, especially at rush hour.

If you're talking about that incident on Boundary, that ended up being a domestic dispute, and not racing as originally reported. Some nutbar from Ontario was trying to hit stuff so his SO in the passenger seat would get hurt.

Hmm, this reminds me of something I've always wondered. What the hell do you call somebody from Ontario anyway?!? Somebody from BC is a British Columbian. Somebody from Alberta is an Albertan. Somebody from Manitoba is a Manitoban. Is somebody from Ontario an Ontarion? Somehow I don't think so. Somebody from Quebec is a Quebecois. Maybe that means that somebody from Ontario is an Ontariois?

Hell, I don't know...

My dear Hitrack,
You may be good at cruising. Are you sure you are a true Vancourite????

Every year before the end of summer ,police are out to set up speed traps to remind drivers that school is starting soon!!! So slow down ,especially around school zones or parks! As soon as we step into September, you will see the speed traps everywhere, especially around the school zones or parks! It is nothing new.It is always there. The only thing I say is opened your eyes! You don't want to waste your pooning cash!!!

I am so glad that I explain to you guys. Apparently you guys are very poor in observation!!!!

Vancouver - sort of
Speed traps

Have never seen as many of the speed "advisory" groups as there were out today displaying your speed as you drive by. And just because they don't issue tickets doesn't mean the heat is off. In a couple instances there were real cops with real radar guns lurking a block or so later to catch those that thought they had gotten off scott free. LOL

Depends on the part of Ontario.

If Toronto I've found wanker to be a good catch all and if Ottawa thief seems to fit the bill.
