Some prefer it that way if they are Independent as they might be busy when you call and they will not be able to answer your call.Also there might an English barrier so it is easier for them to answer a text than talk on the phone.

I prefer text...usually when I call brosan picks up and says "yah" and I'm like this isn't "Dolly".. where as text.. even if Brosan text you back.. I'm like, see you later honnie!!
