Ok all you techno geeks out there. I need your help! I have a Sony MP3 player model Sony NW-S205F I have transferred some tracks on it already using Sony's Sonic Stage. When the mp3 player is connected to the computer via usb, i can play the tracks thru the computer as an external hard drive. But when i disconnect and listen to it thru my earphones, the tracks wont play?? I can see the tracks/listings but when i press play, nothing happens. The thing wont play and i can see the track time stay at 00:00....whats wrong with it? any ideas??

Try this

I have the exact MP3 player so I'll offer some suggestions. First, do you have the slider pushed all the way up, otherwise it stays locked and won't do anything. The lock feature is for physical activity so you don't accidently press a button and have it do something you don't want it to do. Secondly, can you scroll through the MP3s that you loaded onto the player by turning the slider? If not, then you haven't actually loaded them on the player yet through the sonic stage software. Without actually seeing it is knid of hard to troubleshoot, but let me know how it goes. You might have gotten a bum player too.

i know there is a "hold" function and no, it is not on hold. I can scroll thru the tracks but it doesnt play (i know this cuz the track time stays at 00:00). i've deleted the tracks and reloaded the songs and it still doesnt play.
whats weird is that when it was still working the other day....i was able to listen to the first 6 tracks in the mp3 player and then it stopped working. Even the 6 songs that i was able to play earlier didn't want to play anymore.

The exact same thing happened to me and I reinstalled the program (after I deleted it) Are you using vista? if you are then yo ucan update the firmware via the website. It's in your manual.

If you don't have a manual go to your www.sony.ca/ElectronicsSupport/

Good luck

I agree... The Sonic Stage software is a piece of crap, especially because of the fact it does work on a Mac. The players themselves though are pretty good, and as a refugee of the mini-disc era, I'm used to the pro's and cons of Sony's products.

Apple's iTunes is only a little bit better, so dont feel too bad.
