There is apparently a wall of ice all around the edge.
Most non woke types think the wall is the Arctic/Antarctic.

As a man of science I have to wonder how these types perceive the world around them. All of the conspiracy types no matter the 'cause'. Is it a blip in logic? The easier thing to believe? Cognitive dissonance? Belief in false prophets?

Or a desperate means of getting your 15 minutes in the spotlight at any cost?
I have a hard time believing that anyone could legitimately be that stupid- - - actually no I don’t.
I remember hearing Shaquille O’Neal saying he drove from Florida to LA, said the earth looked pretty flat to him.

I have one at work and he is a fucking loon. It’s not funny, he is slowly getting more and more confrontational about his ideas. It won’t end well.

A common pattern amongst them: anger at everyone that tells them what to do ie controls them.
A grudge against anyone with more money, a better life, or anyone who isn’t miserable like them.
A grudge against anyone better educated.

A massive inferiority complex they compensate for by inventing an alternate reality where they are “privy to the real truth”. See populist politicians attacking elites and education in order to appeal to these fools.

Lately our resident nut has started Holocaust denial. I can’t wait till he starts one if his rants with the wrong person.

Anyone who denies the holocaust, is a special kind of stupid.....and should be shackled to a handcart , with his eyelids sewn open......and forced to tour the memorial at the Auschwitz concentration camp.

It's beyond me people like this still exist.:rolleyes: WOW!! I guess they've never heard of the Hubble telescope, unaware of satellites all over, astronauts making space voyages and seeing what we cant. People who think like that.....where did they go wrong on the " life learning " stage :ROFLMAO:

Normally it happens during 1st grade when they learn about the moon not being a dish in the sky and from that day forward it's denial denial denial . Otherwise they get migraines as it too much for them to compute ?

Some years ago there was a teacher in an Alberta town who taught his students the Holocaust never happened. Once he was found out, he got fired and the town raised the money to send the students to tour Auschwitz to see for themselves.

I put flat earthers in the same cluster as JW’s or anyone trying to sell their religion or reality door to door, or acquaintance to acquaintance. I invite them in.

After enduring my 3-hr eloquently delivered powerpoint presentation on paganistic druidic sects, divergent philosophical precepts, special relativity and the standard model, and reruns of 1970’s Get Smart episodes, there is a moment where eyes glaze over and involuntary sighs emerge. That’s when I know I’ve got them, and can fuk with their life paradigm the same way they deign to fuk with others. But no, I offer them cheese, and a virtuous way out. That or the flesh-lined pit of doom. They choose the way, embrace cosmology, and disavowe sectarian sillyness. The revving ‘Pacino’ chainsaw is just a minor motivator.

C’mon in, let’s have a wee chat.

Eckville, the teacher was Jim Keegstra. He was teaching the old protocol of zion garbage and had a lot of support. Even people in Calgary supported him.
The Jewish community in Calgary arranged for a meet and greet at a gas station so locals could meet a jew.
Albertans are a special bunch.

My Uncle (considerably older than my father) served with the British 63 Anti-Tank Regiment, Royal Artillery during the later part of WWII and was among the first soldiers to enter the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp immediately after the cease fire.

As a kid growing up my father explained that my uncle fought in the war but didn't like to talk about it. In 1990 my uncle arranged a trip to Germany for him and my father and asked for me to come along as well.
As part of that trip we went to the Bergen-Belsen memorial museum which had just opened and my uncle began to talk about his experience there in the spring of 1945.

This was the first time he'd ever spoken about this with my father or myself and his words have stayed with me ever since. He said that those few days at Belsen changed him more than all the fighting he had been involved with in those final months of the war.

It's everyone's responsibility to make sure we never forget about what happened during WWII.

There is a spot on Saturna Island where Vancouver’s west end is visible. With binoculars you can see the upper part of high rises but not the ground levels.

Here's a novel idea. How about we put up a satellite that flies around the back side of the world (flat disc.) so that we can look at the giant turtle that it is sitting on. Now why hasn't anyone thought of this.
I have a hundred bucks that says.....on the back of the pizza pan it’s stamped “ made in China”

I do not suffer fools gladly and while I find flat earthers and conspiracy theorists in general quite laughable I also find it reprehensible that our education system allows for this type of though to arise in the first place.

The problem is that critical thinking and problem solving is not really taught in school, it's something that students learn (mostly unknowingly) through osmosis as they work their way through the education system.
It's never actually taught as a class, at least not in the k to 12 education system.

The problem with that is at the end of the day some students come out of our education system without having these skills and end up being ceptable to these crackpot ideas.

Here's a link to the ultimate cheat sheet for critical learning. It should be posted in every classroom, loaded at the splash screen on every school computer, or online learning tool. It should be taught as a skill set from the earliest possible age along with the three R's.

The Global Digital Citizen Foundation is an organization that is trying to correct this. Anyone with school age kids in their family should have those kids spend some time at this site.
