....his obscene salary? Has he actually won games by himself? Don't give a rat's ass he's just back fr injury but he's a pro, right? To think the CH & BW say he's a playoff goalie is so delusional....

To answer your questions....

Yes, yes, Right he's a pro hockeyplayer. And he is a playoff goalie, as he has played in the playoffs....so it isn't a delusional opinion. That is a fact due to that he played in the playoffs last season, so it did really happen. He's a great positional goalie, but he's not superman, same reason that Roy wasn't or Tretiak. Got to have the team that's in front of you playing as well. He shut the door last game against the Preds, as they were pressing at the end.

And it's not an obscene salary. What else would you pay your franchise player?

Better Luongo than Cloutier.

I don't mind if he's not playing his best until the playoffs, as long as they make it there and do something (make it past the second round).

Where were you last year when the Canucks rolled to a league best record of 23 wins 7 losses from February on? We never heard anything from you when the Canucks came from 14 points out of first to catch the Flames in the last week of the season. I suspect when Luongo carries us into the playoffs, and hopefully a long playoff run, your silence will be deafening!

How can anyone question Luongo? I'm not even a 'Nucks fan and I know he's one of the elite goalies out there. Towards the end of his contract when he's nearing 40, maybe you can ask this question, but now? Who else would you rather have?

I think Luongo is a great regular season goalie.
Playoff goalie? He hasn't gotten to the third round yet so yeah, I do think he's overpaid.

Hey what happened to your Brodeur, he's playing in New Jersey now, wtf, and he's one win away from the most winningest goalie, or something like that - ever

Good 'ol BJ Hunter. He can't bitch about the Sedins right now as Henrik is 3rd in the entire league in scoring and Daniel just had a hat trick.

So of course, he's going to pick on Luongo. lol

Are any of them really worth what they are making ? Not just hockey players, baseball, football, any pro sport.

Luongo has stolen two games this season. Raycroft has stolen one. Not exactly earth shattering.

One of the best goalies in the world? In Canuck world, maybe, but he has won nothing yet and has melt downs in the playoffs.

But is there anyone else better out there - probably not.

The long contract makes no sense, though.

NO professional athlete is worth his or her salary. Most are high school dropouts and, for some reason, because they're really good at PLAYING A SPORT (!!!!), they get paid more than neurosuregons and rocket scientists.
Geeez spermie...your arguement is pathetic. Who is going to pay to go watch a neurosurgeon (didn't want to blantantly point out a spelling cops spelling error) do his/her work day after day.
It's the same reason movie stars, tv stars, and other entertainers get paid what they do for their work...simply put, because people want to see them perform.

For those making comments about Luongo not being worth it at 40 y/o, the contract is laid out as it is because on the open market today he would get in excess $7M and the Canucks are only taking a cap hit of $5.?M/yr (I know it starts next year).

It truly is sad these negative remarks. The OP is whether luongo's worth his salary so far. I'm just saying he hasn't played well Enough to win games by himself nor saving the Canucks behinds'. If all the CH & BW can come up w/ idiotic goalie lists n Mommesso's, then I really feel sorry for them!!! Lol

no wonder we get such negative reputation for hving the most delusional fans! In fact, I recall after Bobby's terrible playoff performance, the bandwagon were falling off!!! Usually the 1040AM is great pulse to see where the BW's are---

like u pathetic soul!

Luongo is a good goalie.

I don't believe he is a great goalie except in his mind and Canuck fans' minds.

But the thig I really can't stand is hearing, Luuuuuuu every time he makes a save.

So, I guess what I'm saying is I hate Canucks fans more than I dislike Luongo who is a nice guy, but like a Skid Road crack whore goes down too fast and too often.

I'm going to blame losing to Chicago on Willie Mitchell. His botched clearing attempt in game 4 led to the Martin Havlat tying goal.
After that it was all downhill. Lost the game, Series was tied 2-2 instead of a stranglehold going home at 3-1. :(

I still think Luongo is worth his salary in the new NHL. Got to lock up your star players before somebody else does.
