Anora is a good movie and i'm happy with the pick but my personal choice would've been Dune Part Two or even The Substance for Best Picture. Challengers should've at least been nominated for BP too

actually after spending a bit of time on my netflix last night, Netflix.ca does not have the show, its on a few other streaming services, so back to waiting a few weeks for it to show up in the VID section of my IPTV.
Plenty. The first half is kind of soft porn. Then it gets hilarious as they search for the missing husband.
Anora (based off clips I've seen) seem to be one of those after-dark softcore movies you see on Showcase back in the day, when the static of other the other porn channels you haven't unlocked on your cable box was too staticy to make out....
The last scene was what I liked the least about the movie. Anora is portrayed as strong and smart throughout the whole film, then at the end she suddenly becomes that old tired trope that all sex workers are emotionally fucked up. The rest of it was far fetched but fun, good acting, the bad guys were comical.
Overall I enjoyed it.

Caught it last night on my IPTV, unfortunately the subtitles get dropped in most of the """free"""" streams on these boxes/subscriptions so the Russian dialog was missed. Still, the jist was delivered and Iaughed a lot through the scenes where she kicks the shit out of the bad guys but overall I thought it was a sad flick. The oligarch's kid is one fucking piece of shit, too bad she didn't kick his skinny ass too!! Was this worth all the oscars? As far as I am concerned those particular goal posts have been moved outside my particular taste range so I can't comment on that.

At 2 hours and 19 minutes it would have been better if about 30 minutes of it were left on the cutting room floor but whatever.
There is plenty of illegal activity from start to finish but it was refreshing to see a Hollywood movie like this that isn't all about alpha-male cops and alpha-female cops (and their wannabes) struttin' their stuff and asserting their dominance. Thank goodness.
It's unusual and well done, and I'd say it deserves the Best Picture Oscar that it got.
