I have never been snowboarding, and I REALLY want to try it.

I'm too afraid to go with my friends, because they all know how to already. I dont' want to be left at the bottom of the bunny hill not able to get back up.

Is anyone on here a patient, good teacher? I would love to spend a day on the mountains with someone patient enough to teach me.

I'm a quick learner, and I used to skateboard (which I've heard helps with snowboarding) and I never skiied really either, so that's supposed to help too, right?

I dunno. Anyone interested in taking me up the mountain?

ps. I don't charge for social time in these sorts of situations.

Hey Bobbi

A history of skateboarding does indeed help. And it's best if you haven't skiied, as trying to apply those techniques to boarding does not help. The learning curve with boarding is really fast.

I would like to offer to teach you, but I'm not a very patient person. As you may have noticed recently when some asshat was 'helping' us hang a mirror ;)

I predict you'll have your PM inbox jammed with cheap, creepy pervs who have never been around women without paying for it in just a couple of minutes.

why not pay for some lessons? a good instructor is worth more than you would ever pay him or her for what you learn ... a lot of times the lessons are inclusive, with equipment and lift tickets as part of the package ... maybe even some follow-ups as well.

Agreed. Pay a professional for competent instruction and don't be disappointed, or waste your time. :)

OH jesus people.

I started skiing when i was 11 and started skateboarding at about the same time. In 1989 i started snowboarding. The fact that i participated in these sports or not, meant nothing at my ability at learning snowboarding. They just don't factor in.

There is no sport easier to learn (with a little paid dues of course) than snowboarding.

Almost every ski hill has package deals for beginners that include passes, rentals and instruction. They're usually a good deal. You might have a lot of fun taking lessons with a friend who also hasn't snowboarded before that way you can learn together. Have fun!!!

Agree with what have been said above. Those lessons are definately worth it. If you are not going to whistler, I would highly recommend cypress's ski/snowboard school. They offer a private instruction( 1 on 1 lesson) for 60 dollars per hour. If you go on the weekends, there is a early bird promotion, where you get 2 hours of private lesson for the cost of 1. I would highly recommend this.If you are going to whistler, definately take the snowboard school with blackcomb and not whistler. The instructor from blackcomb have higher qualification in general....

With that said, the snow forecast is not looking good at all.....

Only in the world of PERB.

Should we feel blessed that a hooker is willing to hang out for free?

Fuck no.. Paying chicks is the exception, not the norm in my world. When I want a hooker, I want to pay her to suck on my bone, then go home. I got plently of chicks around whom I don't need to pay to hang with.

"Feel lucky that she'll hang with you for free" Ridiculous.

Nah,

I'm just sick of free loading women who think they are doing the world a favour by 'donating' some of their precious time to us men. It's bullshit. What is worse is men who buy into it. Fuck, I shouldn't feel blessed if a chick will hang out with me for 'free' She should feel lucky I'M giving her MY time for free. My net worth is more and my income is a lot larger so my time is more valuable then hers.

Why don't you start a thread "SPs who figure shit should be free"? It would be an interesting conversation. Go on Mustang DO IT!! I've had my say in the Serious Dilemma thread.

alrighty

I thought this would be a simple thread... lol

Thanks for all the advice. In all honesty, lessons ARE too impersonal tho. I'm not looking to become a pro boarder or anything.... It's just one of those things I've been looking to scratch off my list.

My PS message in the original post was NOT to make ANYONE feel that *I* am too good to spend time with anyone. I'm not like that. Joe, you dont' know me... so please don't make me out to sound like a snob who wouldn't DARE spend time with anyone without money up front. It's not my attitude at all.

back to the original question... LOL Anyone wanna go snowboarding in the new year?

And no, Fiddy, we can't wait til summer.. :p

On this board? Good luck with that!

I knew exactly what you were doing with the ps, Bobbi. You were trying to be pre-emptive to the certainty of the "why the hell would I pay to teach you to snowboard" posts. In fact, without any doubt, it would have been the same team of trolls making those sort of posts.

Take them for what they are....trolls.

Who is looking to become a pro boarder when they take their first lesson? The advice is only to give you the best instruction for your dollar, I don't think they're all trolls. Actually, I think most have your best interest at heart. :)

You seem a little cynical there Dakota. Maybe you should take your emotionally healthy, well adjusted self, and go on a vacation with your special SO. Might help to release some tension?
