Any of the large 24 hour adult shops on Broadway, Main or Granville all have toys. I believe adult Toys all have an MSRP so should be priced the same.
The problem wiht the small ones is they don't have as much power. My ex wasn't so impressed with the Pocket Rocket, but she went wild for the medium sized Silver Wand. I know a few women who rave about The Rabbit (from Sex in the City fame), but I think that might be an intimidating choice as a first toy (plus they are pretty expensive).

Go to Womynsware on the Drive. The northeast corner of Commercial and Venables. Very knowledgable staff who'll tell you the pros and cons of various materials and features.
Don't buy cheap toys...it's simply not worth it plus the item you're interested in is inexpensive so spend the extra $5 to get something that actually works, will last and looks good.

For myself personally.the best vibrator I ever had was The Vibrating Panties. They come with a wireless remote that either you can put in your purse and flick the button anytime, eg. standing in line at the grocery store, paying your bills at the bank, having lunch with a friend ect... or you can give it to your lover and he gets to set it off antime he feels like it.
