Slow times?
Was out for lunch with a client on Corydon yesterday. As I'm walking back to my car I run into a local SP I've seen a few times in the past. She's alone and says hi (I never approach a lady unless she makes the first move) so we decide to grab a coffee and chat a bit. She asks how I am and says she saw my thread on "retiring" and how it is working out. Anyway after a brief discussion she admits to me she is thinking of getting out of the biz and getting a "real job" (her words). Says in the past year it has really slowed down and the past few months have been so bad she's been lucky to have savings to live off of. I was shocked to say the least. If you guys knew who I am talking about you would be too. I always thought she was a top notch SP and had lots of business. She commented on the massive influx of young gals on BP and the higher numbers of touring girls is really cutting into the local girls' business. I told her that the BP gals shouldn't be a problem for her but she said the problem is guys, always looking for something different will see the BP girls hoping for that hidden gem and even if they don't, they've blown their budget for the week or month and don't see anyone else. So even if they don't repeat with the girl off BP it cuts into the money available to the decent gals.
She told me that she's heard a few local ladies say they are in the same situation.
I want to add, she wasn't complaining, just stating the facts as she sees them.

Too bad. If she hangs it up that will really leave us with one less top notch lady.

PS: Don't even think to ask me who it was because I told her I'd never divulge her identity.

Kind of ties in nicely with what I have been saying for the last few months.

Shop Local. Even the touring girls are showing up as bad BP quality ladies.
Stay the hell away from BP and 'jem hunting' it benefits nobody and really hurts us all.

We are ruining our own selection by what we are doing. Soon the professional providers will be gone because we spent all our money gem hunting in BP and we will have nothing left but a swarm of BP quality providers to choose from. Then of course, because we are Winnipegers, we will complain about the mess we are in, and blindly forget that we put ourselves there. :doh:

I am not sure it's slow for everyone.There are alot of girls who have their regular clients and stick with them.Some are very hard to book with and are happy with the number of clients that they have.I see no problem with booking high quality out of town girls that are availible and have good reveiws.Variety is a good thing and may help keep prices and egos in check....

I'm so not surprised to read this. Aside from the reasons listed, I think there is less disposable dough around generally. The Jets have sucked up many dollars and will continue to so and rising housing costs and of course taxes all contribute I think. Also there are players with different attitudes dabbling in the game, providers and customers alike. What is unfortunate is that not only we'll lose quality providers but quality customers as well. For me personally it's a much more mental than physical game, there isn't much I haven't seen so I kinda need to like the person a bit and try to develop a rapport which isn't always possible with traveling girls and I don't see very many for that reason. Most of new youngins seem to have no interest in that all. Being a guy I do like a little variety so the conundrum is that I find it a little repetitve to see even a top-notch provider all the time. The result is I play much less than before....

In the last 6 - 8 months I have heard from several other local providers that things are very slow for them compared to what it was just a couple of years ago. Just like JB's story, they also pointed to BP and all the touring girls. I just never thought to start a thread on it. Glad that Jethro did.

I have a very good friend at work whom says he is best friends with a very well known and reviewd local lady who has echoed exactly what JB is saying! I also suspect we are seeing more touring ladies as back home their wells have somewhat dried up as well. Just the state of the business as any business owners know if you do not change with the times you will be in the situation of winding down your business as well.

Could this dried up business be at least in part due to the fact that the going rate has gone from $200-220 to $300 in under a year? Sure, those that can afford it, do it, but the pooling share of wallet still shrinks. And some are priced out of the market completely.

No question it's a factor, so much easier to take a shot at $220 versus $300 and up.

jethro is right.. an sp who is well reviewed actually cold called me, she in turn confessed that it is very slow, and when I was stumped one night when my usual two sps I count on werent available, I tried and called a particular sp who I had a falling out with, she agreed to see me like nothing happened, yet when I tried to contact her a couple of months ago she turned me down flat.. it is getting slow out there, I am sticking with my two, if they decide to leave or retire, I dont know where to turn to...

She could always lower her rates but if she'd rather retire thats her choice. Its a business if you aren't drawing in customers you don't have many options either lower rates increase services or find a way to advertise more creatively those are about the only possibilities thats the reality of being self employed.

Not sure about that, as the touring women I notice seem to always tour. I could be wrong, I've found the ones I have a preference for and I'm more of the sort that prefers familiarity over variety (to the point I just pretty much have specific calenders bookmarked and dont check ec that often) so I dont browse around so much.

Touring girls are slow because they seem to forget:

-This city has less than 1 million people. They're aren't that many people in this hobby

-Just because there are 50 ladies advertising, doesn't mean the streets are paved with gold. The market is just totally flooded here.

-There can't be 3 or 4 ladies touring in the same week. See above. They take clients from eachother, no one is messing with anyone.

-Sp's cry about how many cancellations they get. Well, if they've been here before (20 or 50 times) or are here every month and someone "new" is coming, they will cancel and book with the other lady. Why? They're here every month and will be back again.

- If the SP is charging a significantly higher rate in this city, it isn't in the average pooner's budget to always see touring girls or able to see them as frequently. This is a wholesale city.

Think about this.... it could be that there are so many visiting SPs because the biz is slow in their home cities. Sort of a viscious circle you could say. The out of town ladies have just as much right to ply their trade here as anybody else. It's a free country.

IMHO, it all comes down to an excess supply situation made worse by the new standard rate of $250-300/hr. I just don't think there are that many pooners in the Peg who can afford the new norm especially for a vanilla GFE. The last year or so has seen the normal rate skyrocket from $200 to $300 in most cases. That's a former PSE rate being commanded for what basically amounts in most cases to a crappy CBJ and a single SOG with more often than not a dissinterested SP.

Not saying this is the case everytime as there are still some quality ladies in this city. But when the majority are now subpar but driving up the going rate your going to see a drop in customers. Not too long ago $250 would get you an hour with Baby with BBBJCIM and MSOG. Many pooners still remember this I'm sure and are just unwilling to spend more than that on less service.

Just my oppinion on the matter.

I agree with a lot of what you said, expecially the excessive supply of sp's. I think part of the factor is the gem hunters who will pay $250 to $300 for someone on BP who has no reviews and good pics. They are driving up the market price. They want bragging rights on finding a gem, but most of the time come back here complaining that they were ripped off. We created this because far too many of us go gem hunting.

Stick to your guns guys, stay away from BP unless they have been well reviewed. For God's sake use www.tineye.com and check out the pics first. Don't pay anything more than $250 for a well reviewed local girl for real GFE services (non of this 'safe GFE' crap where you can't DATY, or no Digits or BBBJ or DFK, what the hell kind of GFE is that?). Touring girls can charge more, they have more expenses.

If we just stuck with this, and boycotted the rest, things would get better, and more affordable real fast!

That's exactly what I've been doing the last few years and my level of frustration with the hobby is way way down. When rates started going from $200 to $300 I really started getting very picky and pretty much cut out the TOFTT sessions. Anyone charging $300 had better be spectacular or I'm taking a pass.
