Hi all.

Sorry if this topic has been covered, but I couldn't find anything on it.

I am clean, decent shape and all that, but I have a couple spots of psoriasis on my chest and back. It has been like that for years, but nothing I've tried will make it go away.

I would like to visit a sp, but haven't out of concern about her reaction. Is celibacy my only option? what do people do in this situation?

Thanks in advance

Get your GP to refer you to a dermatologist.

thanks oldfart

I have done that, and gone the route of all sorts of medicines and treatments. I would love nothing better than to get rid of it, but it looks like this is just the way things are going to be. I can live with it fine, as it is only a couple small areas.

I would like to have a sex life again, but if it is a big issue to people I would just as soon avoid the embarassment. Has anyone been in this situation?

I say just find a girl that interests you and ask. I doubt many sp's will be have issues if you mention it beforehand and the areas are smallish.
If they do... Find someone else and ask again!

Plus if it really bothers you, just keep your shirt on.

Go see a dermatologist. Psoriasis is actually an immune system response to dead skin cells caused by skin that exfoliates too quickly - or so I've read. Some people that are afflicted swear by tanning and salt water. A dermatologist will be able to give you some options and verify/debunk what I've mentioned above. If it's only a couple of areas they probably will be able to help you.

I get minor bouts of exema (spl) if I don't take care of it, or I'm working in bad conditions, even had some mild chemical burns for awhile. Just let the woman know ahead of time. I got laughed at and told "I've seen waaay worse". Things that aren't contagious generally aren't a problem if you're upfront about it.

Have had psoriasis for twenty five years. See a Dermatologist and they will prescribe something that will clear up your condition. I use Dovonex and it is completely under control. Good luck.

25 years and counting for me also.Definitely recommend you speak to the SP before hand about it.There are alot of"alternative " ways to clear it up first. The dermatologist i had when I was 16 put me on a drug named Tegison http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Etretinate and to say the results were very bad are an understatement.
