See, it's not just my imagination: Vancouver women are aloof ! They don't want to meet anyone new, you have to be a friend of a friend, or somehow already in their circle of acquaintances. So, as a single guy who came to this place not knowing a soul, my efforts to connect were met with blank stares, polite "no thanks", and even "Why don't you have a girlfriend?" from a couple of well meaning ladies.

I could have told you this years ago. I live in Seattle and its the same thing of course. I'm Chinese into Asian women and let me tell you its a total clique. Unless you are somehow somewhere in their circle forget it. Its takes a minor miracle to meet someone if you are not a social monger. I've only been able to meet women from being set up by family. I go to Van often and it seems all the ladies have no time for anyone but their own cliques. How does one break through around here?

I'd have to agree with the statement that single sucks in Vancouver. Explains the enormous number of SPs that can charge $$$ + per hour. I've basically given up.

I have a friend who doesn't frequent SPs. He's so frustrated at this point he's moving out of the country.

Vancouver is AWESOME compared to Victoria! Every chickie in Vic thinks she's a model and her shit doesn't stink ...

I have MUCH better luck in Vancouver with women because I have been through the trenches with Victoria women and in comparison, Van women just need a little assertiveness ...

in victoria, assertiveness gets you a knee to the groin and a macing ...

and you wonder why there are more sps in victoria than almost anywhere else on the planet????

It's probably even worse in Calgary........thousands of *hot* single women all after the big money.
While a few hours north the women there are totally different, approachable, friendly, outgoing. It's weird what a difference a couple hundred miles can make.

and for Asian men who's attracted to Caucasian women is even harder...ironcially it's the other way around...A lot of White men love Asian women and they are everywhere in Vancouver.

The real problem, as I see, are "journalists" like Lisa Ronis, who write bullshit articles about "singles."

How a person can have a lucrative, even respected, career trotting the globe assessing the "single life" in various cities is further proof that as a society we're all fucking morons who'll believe and lend credence to anything just so long as it's printed in a magazine.

This is about as journalistically vital as those reports telling you which celebrities were spotted around town and what restaurants they frequented. These articles are best used to wipe your ass.

What's produced doesn't matter as long as it's produced. Citing magazines as a culprit on any one person is niave - our society is built on it, NEEDS it and thrives on it.
