Despite being a champion, Mauricio "Shogun" Rua currently is the underdog to title challenger Jon Jones in their upcoming UFC 128 title fight.

That's according to the oddsmakers' opening line, anyway.

Noted MMA oddsmaker and frequent MMAjunkie.com Radio guest Joey Oddessa today confirmed the initial line with MMAjunkie.com. Jones opens as a -150 favorite while Rua is a +120 underdog in a fight that's already seen heavy betting action.

Looks like this young Jon Jones gonna be ruling the UFC for years to come. Dana White must be in euphoria. UFC can live without New York City with cities like Toronto bringing in 55,000+. :) :)

I'll be betting Shogun.....if he's 100% from the knee surgery and in shape it will be a fun fight. We will actually see how well Jones can take a punch. Huge jump in competition from the fights he has had.
I am 60/40 on this one...for Shogun. But, if Jones gets some momentum...and rattles Shogun, then Jones takes the belt.
Not willing to bet on this fight.

Jone's superior wrestling, freakish strength and Jackson's gameplan will overcome Rua's superior striking.

If Jones follows Jackson's gameplan he will not expose himself to Rua's over whelming Muay Thai. Jones will easily take Rua down and either elbow, submit or just cruise to a decision.

Good luck with your bet as you'll need it. Hard to bet on a guy coming back from another knee injury. I believe that it is not the first time that knee needed surgery.

My money is on Jones.

I'd probably go with the odds and bet on Shogun. If they are equally talented you might as well go with the odds and the guys who's most experienced, but it's admittedly a tough call.

HH is right about you!!!
You are giving shogun a 60% chance to win, his posted odds are +120
Then according to your 60% chance to win, you should certainly be betting.
60% is more in line with a -150 not a +120

Interesting. I don't think much of Bader. I think the best fighter Jones has faced was Hamill. If I had to put money on this fight, it would be on Jones...I am glad I don't gamble because I would hate to have to bet on this fight.
I made a lot of money on the Hamill fight. Jones is a cheater!

Wow, not only did Jones smash Shogun, but completely tooled him in the stand up. Fight wasn't even competitive. Thank you Jones for the big fat payday!!
