What is salient in this matter is that demonization of a race is always wrong no matter who is doing it. Anyone, regardless of their ethnicity should be brought to justice for performing actions that demonize another race. This person was brought to justice. Perhaps we don’t agree with the penalty, but let’s give the RCMP the benefit of the doubt, that they considered all of the facts and acted in the best interest of the larger community.
Agreed to an extent but I do not believe the person was brought to justice. The RCMP made it clear that they were leaving it up to the Sikh community to deal with it and that is wrong. By doing so, they appear to be applying different rules for different races. As much as I generally support the RCMP/police, appreciate the work they do, and certainly have no desire myself to do it, they could have come out and said they handled the situation poorly and apologized for "demonizing" Caucasians in their haste to be looked at as good guys to the EI community.

Look, my basic points are:
1) Racists not only have white faces
2) People shouldn't use the "well the shoe's on the other foot so how do you like it" statements to rationalize Caucasian "demonization.
3) There is a clear double standard when dealing with racism or race related issues.

How come Chris Rock can tell jokes about whites and call them "crackers" (I believe that's the word, and yes I did laugh at his shit) but if a white comic told a joke about a black guy and called him a "spook" he'd be crucified? It's because there's a double standard.

ironically, there didn't seem to be as much moral outrage about the homosexual beaten to death in Stanley Park ... the police and courts treated it like any other assault when the family and friends were trying to get it labelled a hate crime which was refused.
Because it wasn't a gay Sikh! Just kidding. While I don't agree with/understand (not the right words but the best I can come up with) the lifestyle, they shouldn't be murdered because of it. Those kids were out to specifically harm someone who was gay and it should have been treated as a hate crime.
