japan has some interesting things going on with regards to sexuality and acceptance of deviant behavior .

They also seem to be far more accepting of really odd sexual taste .
There is a computer game called " Akba strip undead and undressed"
That If you play it gives a introduction to" otoku "culture .
Yes I know it seems strange recommending a computer game to find out about a particular sub culture . But the game is set in a real town in japan that is the center of that culture . It does give you an understanding of it

One odd concept they have is the idea of having a wafu . What a Wafu is it is your wife or girlfriend but it is a 3 dimensional cartoon character .

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Waifu

If you go to Japan they have things like maid cafe's. Which the waitresses dress as maids and call you master and will dance for you and play games with you for a price . However no sex is involved .

Could not find the video .But there was one on you tube of a guy visiting Akiba Who I think lived in japan . Talking about how the whole Japanese otoku culture maid cafes . With there fake scripted interactions in maid cafe's etc is designed to let Japanese men into otoku culture to not form any type of real relationship with a real woman .

they have also things like capsule hotels and Manga cafe's.

Which offer cheap places to sleep and shower .

In the game Akiba strip strip. The homeless people are called free sprits If this means they are more accepting of homelessness in japan I have no idea . The above places although not created for homeless people would provide cheaper places for a homeless person to sleep than what we have in north America .

I've always been fascinated by Japanese Love Hotels and thought we could benefit from a similar system here, especially in regards to this hobby. It certainly would be convenient and solve a ton of problems!

I used to live there for some time and I definitely had a good time in their Love Hotels... wish we had them here, but I imagine people not being respectful and turning them into sketchy crack dens.
I think there is a lot of gender imbalance there which makes dating super weird... they are kind of caught between the new and the old worlds and it seems like relationships are based more on money rather than romance and I found that sex education was quite minimal. Many people don't use protection and they do a lot of fear mongering kind of sex ed where they make young people scared of STIs, rather than any sort of sex positive education. On the other hand, I found prostitution and massage parlours are really in your face.

Most Japanese marry for status, as in proof of emotional stability, a requirement to get promoted in the business world.
Marrying for romantic reasons is not as common.
The end result is that sex seems to be more for the fling of a boyfriend/girlfriend (and often illicit) relationship, or for making a baby.
The lack of privacy makes the Love Hotels busy, and since they are usually Yakuza, it's cash only.
Sex seems more matter-of-fact there, and less emotional.
