Sex Slaves on TV

Did anyone catch the documentary "Sex Slaves" that ran on Monday night on CBC TV? It was about Russian women forced into sexual servitude in Turkey, various parts of Europe, and even Canada.
Seeing it made me think of all the favorable remarks I've seen here about East European providers in Toronto. I wonder if any of them are trafficked?

Any reactions to this show? I was shocked at the nastiness of the business, and the desperation in those women's lives.

I saw parts of it. But this was probably a re-run cause I saw this months ago. In any event I agree that the women are treated horrifically. Personally I would never visit anyone if I knew they were in that situation because I don't think she would be participating under her own free will.

The government should offer these girls citizenship in exchange for their testimony and get the scum who are exploiting these woman behind bars where they belong.

I'll bet most of the AMP's in BC are stocked with semi-willing participants, especially the ones catering ONLY to fellow Asians.

It was interesting, but this seemed to be pretty limited in scope. They never talked about Israel where at least 90 percent of the girls are slaves from EE and there is also Greece which has some of it going on.

There are girls in Turkey which are from Ukraine which are not trafficked. They are the ones you will see as a foreigner at certain bars in the aksaray district. They don't have pimps and are there to make money for themselves. What they showed on the documentary is not out in the open and is only known to locals. I have also been to Antalya but never saw that kind of thing going on but obviously it is, if you are a local.

One of the worst parts of that show is that even their own courts in the Ukraine are indeed part of the problem. I doubt they would be so light on a sentance if the husband killed the guy that sold his wife.

I am fairly familiar with the great EE's in Toronto and their situation from various sources that have gotten to know some on a more personal basis. I had been concerned a few years ago.

However it is pretty much agreed that yes, they pay huge fees to their handlers to get them into Canada, are expected to work very long days /nights, have little free time away from their handlers. They make far lower amount of agency fee than others, and pay high fees to the agency or keepers for rent etc....

BUT...
They are happy about it and knew what to expect when they came to Canada. They often send money to parents in home country which is a huge amount to them often in poverty. When their debt to handlers are paid off, they are then free to do whatever they wish. Some marry, move to other parts of Canada or continue with agencies. They work very hard, accumulate out of their small net what to them is a great deal of money. They are far better off than in their home country. Most seem happy with the deal and I've met some of the most wonderful intimate EE providers who have many grateful customers who say they are mostly wonderful GFE's.

And
A interesting situation a year or so ago, a bad Russian Mafia guy set up outcall appointments with a bunch of the EE Agency gals, but kidnapped them and had them locked (with bars on windows) in his home and pimped them out to clients who came to his home.

One night the gals developed an escape plan. They called 911 to report a burglary in progress so the Police would enter the house with force if needed thinking the female caller was in danger. After the police broke in, what they realized was a bit of a weird home with so much security and locks, the gals told the story. The bad Russian Mafia man was arrested and charged with many violations like kidnapping, forcing gals to be prostitutes, living off the avials, running a bawdy house etc.

Most of the gals wound up back at the agencies and as far as I can tell none of the EE gals had to get our of the business or out of Canada.

I did have a session with a EE years ago and she confieded in me that she was escaping from her handlers having broken some rules and was in physical danger if she stayed in Toronto. A few months later I received an e-mail from her saying she was very happy working in another part of Canada as a stripper.

There are good and bad things going on with the EE, but the bottom line is they seem to know what the rules of the game is, they know the will be sexworkers and have no problems being such because the rewards in the end are far better than the situaton they come from in their home county.

I've also heard how apprecaitve they are of Western men who treat them so nicely compared to the men in Eastern Europe who are so rough and demanding. They seem to respond so nicely to caring touch intiamcy that I enjoy and it is so different and nicer than how they were treated by men in their home countries.

Sexual Servitude

Slave to the Business

I find it interesting that as subscribers to this HOBBY, we tend to treat our involvement with an "I wouldn't use a girl in this situation" mind set.

Sadly we aren't privy to all the info. Yes there are girls that are truly in control of their lives and completely comfortable with what they do. My guess is that they are of a significant minority 30%.

Some SP's are in the "I do it because I can" situation, and are really a slave to the easy money lifestyle (relative versus real world employment).

I just think it is naive for us to think that a great majority of the girls "can't wait to work everyday".

Before I get flamed, I realize I participate in the same lifestyle, but I do like to reflect on what it all really means.

Well said, Ace. I have thoughts along the same lines and try to choose SP's accordingly.

To flesh out my previous note, here are excerpts from today's Associated Press report:

(09-21) 18:40 PDT WASHINGTON, (AP) --

President Bush decided Wednesday to waive any financial sanctions on Saudi Arabia, Washington's closest Arab ally in the war on terrorism, for failing to do enough to stop the modern-day slave trade in prostitutes, child sex workers and forced laborers.

In June, the State Department listed 14 countries as failing to adequately address trafficking problems, subjecting them all to possible sanctions if they did not crack down . . .

In addition to Saudi Arabia, Ecuador and Kuwait — another U.S. ally in the Middle East — were given a complete pass on any sanctions, [Darla] Jordan, [a State Dept. spokeswoman,] said. Despite periodic differences, oil-rich Saudi Arabia and the United States have a tight alliance built on economic and military cooperation . . .

The White House statement offered no explanation of why countries were regarded differently. Jordan also could not provide one.

As many as 800,000 people are bought and sold across national borders annually or lured to other countries with false promises of work or other benefits, according to the State Department. Most are women and children.

I saw it and noticed that the girl (The blond) who had been sold by her husbands friend, seems to have a picture on www.hi5.com
I'd post a link to the actual girl but that wouldn't be wise now would it...

Well Dave,
I remember a French documentary called the Dutch Showcase where its accredited quantitative study indicates that most of the women (90%) from the EE in Amsterdam are not willing participants, and are victims of trafficking.
I have no idea what the situation is in Amsterdam, but I wonder if the studies are by anti sexwork feminist groups that think any sexworker is being abused regardless of it being their choice.

All I was saying was it seems most of the EE's in Toronto come willingly and know what they are getting into. If they come voluntarily they are not being trafficed.

I'm not sure if the 30% figure you quoted includes those who "do it because they can and are slaves to easy money".

Who cares? This to me is a concious choice to choose the easy money over another option.

There are lots of us who work at jobs not because we like it, but because it pays well. Thankfully I'm not in that category. Every job has it's pro's and con's and as long as a woman makes a choice to participate in this particular business she, in my opinion isn't a slave to anything.

BTW, if you think about it..SP's have a lot of power. They certainly have more control than most woman have. Those that are independent can decide when to work, how much to charge, who to see, whether to repeat or not with a client, what's on the menu etc.

Its a joke when the US gov. starts some big new campaign against sex slaves, they will never sanction one of the worst offenders namely Israel. As you might imagine some Ukrainian girls couldn't just get a visa easily for that country. They have very tough laws there, so the ones that are there, are smuggled. It would be very easy to find these operations; they are basically out in the open.

In the case of the documentary, they never showed the girls in the aksaray bars which are there to be SP's. From what I know of them they are there on their own, no pimp. What really shows this is if you are in Istanbul during Ramadan. A Muslim religious holiday, when they are not supposed to indulge in eating during sun up and other things like drinking. During this time it’s much harder to find girls in the bars, they usually go away for a holiday since there isn't much work anyway. If they were owned by a pimp they wouldn't be leaving would they? They play the game with tourist visa's they are there for two months, than leave for a month, and then back for two. It’s not hard for them to get visa's. The ones that are used as sex slaves, were legitimately looking for domestics work(maids, nanny's, etc.), since they could easilly have gone on their own and worked as an SP if they wanted to.

The police raided the bars in Aksaray a few months ago, maybe due to the pressure to crack down on the sex slave trade. This of course didn't hit the sex slave business because it is not out in the open. To make it worse, the businesses using sex slaves probably picked up business because the legitimate girls were kicked out of the country.

So the part about the 800,000 women AND CHILDREN being sold into slavery was OK with you??

Someone needs to be the world's cop. The US spends a great deal of its own $$$ doing this.

Why do you take every opportunity to bash America? Why can't you be outraged about the criminals, not the cops???
Well if you saw the last part of the documentary you would have seen that the courts in the Ukraine are at the root of this. The guy that was caught selling the girl into slavery got 5 years probation and the girl that was sold into slavery was not even given the opportunity to testify.

The US are not the cops of the world and I don't want them to be. They really are not even serious about sex slavery, otherwise they would be including Israel in their sanctions.

The US will never do anything that would upset precious allies... even if it means allowing innocents to suffer. Mind you, where is Canada in all of this? I am a little disturbed the my own country, with our love of equal rights and freedom... would allow this.
