Like mad cow disease, the failed justice system resides on both sides of the 49th parallel.

You have your Karla Homolka, but we have Joseph Duncan.

Duncan’s previous record of sexual assaults against children is now coming out.

Duncan was deemed a sexual psychopath at 17, after he was arrested for the rape and torture of a 14-year-old boy in 1980. He served 14 years of a 20 year sentence for molesting that boy

In April of this year, he was charged again with molesting a boy in Minnesota. THE JUDGE RELEASED HIM ON $15,000 BAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Duh, he skipped bail and they have been looking for him since May. So he was out on bail when he killed the little girl’s family and took her. I saw a news report that he has been molesting her for 6 weeks now.

How the hell can a known sexual psychopath re-offend and be released on bail????

Joe has got to die. The judge needs to be impeached.

WOW!!

Was Joseph Duncan framed???

Think about it.

The guy allegedly kills an entire family, kidnaps a girl, then six weeks later brings her back to her home town and takes her to Denny's.

It doesn't add up!!!!!!!

Much has been made of Karla Homolka's release but what I have to say isn't going to make many happy. She played the system and " won "! She served out her entire 12 yr sentence. No parole. Paul Bernardo will spend the rest of his life in prison. If there is blame to be assigned I think it should be on the Ontario A.G.'s Dept as they were the people in charge of agreeing to her terms for handing over Bernardo. I suspect had the Justice system in Ontario done a better job they wouldn't have had to given her a deal.

Are there not mandatory guidelines in the U.S. for sentencing or are they only in certain states ? Judges fume that they have no discretion but is this case not a prime example of why there should be!

Squid, it is the justice system in both cases that failed. The part I just can not believe is this piece of shit was let go on bail after being charged just this year with molesting another boy. WTF was the judge thinking.

At the time of Homolka's deal, the Ontario AG thought Bernardo was the prime problem, and they needed Homolka's testimony against Bernardo to make sure he didn't get out. At that point, only Homolka and Bernardo knew about the tape showing Homolka's active participation in the rapes and murder.

When Homolka's house was searched by the police, an officer found the hiding spot of the tape, but could find nothing when he reached in. Homolka's lawyer, when he recovered the tape, was about two inches taller and could barely reach the tape. So if a taller cop had searched, Homolka would be #1 bitch for the bull dykes til' hell froze over.

Yet more proof that yes, there is a God and man does he have a sense of humour.

He probably does believe something along these lines...Bush 43 probably molested the girl ad killed the family and Bush 41 probably covered it up

F-ed up

Yeah, this whole sorry episode really could have been prevented by those with power (the judges). Do they really think a guy like Duncan will live normally if released?

I mean it's not like he caught caught for parking violations, he's a known sexual predator and psychopath....repeatedly!

The concept of an independent judiciary is nice in theory, but in practise it leads to a lack of accountability and very, very poor decision making sometimes.
