Montreal just signed Sergei Samsonov to a two year deal, What is Kevin thinking, maybe hes looking at getting a deal on a old Oiler?.

Thats the story you hear in Edmonton, We are rebuilding the team, how many times does a flat tire need to be repaired.
Lowe need to just sign top players and have them play together for a couple of years.
A guy can only buy so many different jerseys before it starts cutting into his pooning funds.

I don't really think Samsonov is a great loss, he didn't do much down the stretch and disappeared for the most part in the playoffs. The guy has never even had a 30 goal season and he get's 3 mill a year from Montreal???

What's Anson Carter worth then after the season he had, I think Lowe did the right thing their. I agree thought Spajek (sp)? should of kept him!!

The Oilers reportedly agreed to what Spajek wanted and matched Buffalo's offer but he still decided to sign with the Sabres. Looks like he just wanted to play for an Eastern team as did Samsonov. What's Kevin Lowe supposed to do? Vastly over pay these guys like other GMs have been doing! I wouldn't have paid Samsonov 3.5 million a season either.

I wish that pronger would have waited until the free agent market was taken care of before making his trade wishes public. I'm willing to bet we could have resigned peca and spacek if they thought we could be contenders again.

Samsonov isn't worth 3.5 million. He is a smaller guy, terrible along the boards, short reach, injury prone, and he can't hit. For that kind of money there are much better options.

Horcoff Hits The Jackpot!

Word out tonight is that Shawn Horcoff inked a new 3 year deal worth 10.8 million which works out to 3.6 million per season. That's quite a hefty raise from the 1 million per year he was earning last season. Now the pressure is really on him to produce.

There's also a rumour floating around that the Oilers are talking to Eric Lindros. I say why the hell are they wasting their time with that injury prone bimbo!

Oilers are rebuilding and they will definitely win in 2008 . I am not a true Oiler fan. However, when you look at what Ken Lowe and his staff/scouts are doing at preseent; you can not help but see they are building a team for the near future to win the Stanley Cup

I read elsewhere that the Devils may trade Gomez if his arbitration salary puts them over the cap. If it's determined that he's a $5 million guy, can the Oil afford him? And who do they give up to acquire him?
