Sent home early. Told I have too many vacation hours & I need to start using them

I have to work a half day tomorrow and another few hours on Thursday, but other than that, I need to get rid of 140 hours this year. Any ideas on where I can go and what I should do?

3 weeks of vacation? Can you afford to land in Italy, see Rome and Venice - boat to Greece, see Athens - train to Istanbul - boat to Odessa and train through Budapest to Berlin.

A whole world of history and some of the most attractive women on the planet. Be sure to wear a Canadian flag somewhere visible.
I might be able to afford a couple of thousand, but not $5,000.

Ive been off all month, and will be for the rest of it.
I have way to many hours as well, they use to just pay out extra vacation where I work, but now, want you to take the days off. Saves them money. Im literally bored. I usually work 50 hour weeks, so was always able to take travel days that way.

Here is what I had planned.. https://perb.cc/vbulletin/showthread.php?145576-Greyhound-travel

round trip Vancouver to Miami, $300 ;)

Its hard to find somewhere good to go with short notice. Airfare to Europe seems high

I vote for a road trip. I love road trips. I hope to drive down to California sometime this summer.
Give it ago, take the time to see the sights.
I vote for the road trip also. The West coast is incredibly beautiful.

If you want to mix in a little fun, fly down to Vegas, rent a car, and circumnavigate the Grand Canyon, stopping in Zion and Bryce Canyons along the way. Spectacular scenery, and if you haven't ever seen those canyons, you really need to. All of them are amazing and the Grand Canyon is almost beyond description.

If you have a favorite SP in Vancouver who is up for a change of scenery and taking a break, you might see if she would be willing to work out a deal to join you. Yeah, they have posted travel rates, but if you and she get along well and she's up for taking a vacation, you may find she's willing to accept something that fits in your budget.

That sounds like a good idea. I already asked my favourite Sp. Unfortunately, she works a regular job and can't go away. As well, her rates are too high. $1,500 to $2,000 a day!

Drive down the Oregon Coast on Hwy 101.
Simply beautiful.
Continue driving down to Ensenada, Mexico. Beautiful women, cheap accommodations and food.

take the train from Vancouver to Seattle, switch to the train that runs down the coast to San Diego, then catch cheap flight to Hawaii, return to Seattle, then Vancouver by train

That's a great idea, but I would say fly into Mexico or Central America, possibly Costa Rica. Flight prices out of and in the US can be pretty cheap.

the train is a great trip, you can see scenery and not have to worry about driving, walk around, have a drink or two, good food too, and hotel room is on train, tres convenient

Not related. She has no vacation time at all. She is on jobshare right now because of her kid.

It's march break and airline prices are through the roof. I'm going to look into the Oregon trip as suggested on here. Thanks for the ideas.

Cheaper and easier to catch a hawaii flight from LA than from San Diego.
