I am a newbie at golf and would like to find a golfing school to learn about the basics of the game. I don't even have my own equipment so I will need advice on purchasing decision. I am kind of lost right now, any recommendation on where to start? I did some research and it seems Fraserview is one of the best golf courses in the city and they do offer lessons to beginners. Any other suggestions?

i have been playing around with the idea of taking golf lessons too. Checked out a few places, their rates and lessons are pretty much standardized. However, by chance you are a University of British Columbia student, join their student golf club (it is really cheap and there are guys who will show you the ropes). Other than that, I would suggest taking a group lesson at a course near your residence, and try buying golf sets at garage sales or the buy and sell. I got a really good set of irons, a putter and a cart for $35 at a garage sale. The putter alone was worth over $100.

Hope that helps

Depends on where you live...Northview and Westwood if convenient would be good. Played Northview this morning...awesome day.
