while I'm not a Canucks' fan nor am I a Canucks' hater.I've always liked watching the Sedins and I feel they deserve a better fate
than being here, because they deserve a shot at the Stanley Cup.

Now, before I get the delusional "we were one win away" pap, that 2011 Cup Final had to be the most one-sided 7 game series
I have ever seen.

Here are a cpl possible scenarios

1.the Canucks squeak into the playoffs, to be immediately dispatched(has a familiar ring to it,I think?)
the Sedins are UFA's and look to sign with a team that

a)is a legit contender
b)has a few countrymen

can anyone say Detroit?

2. the Canucks do not fare well under Torts, and,at trade deadline, are out of the playoff mix,or barely in it
management knows there's very little chance of re-signing the twins and looks to get something for them
rather than losing them to free agency, and sends them to a team for a combo of draft picks, prospects, roster guys.

among the teams that are usually well-stocked are, surprise, Detroit, and the twins go to a contending team
with lots of fellow Swedes.

*** I have just re-read my less-than-foolproof possibilities and realize I have omitted a cogent fact....the salary cap.

that could dash the above to pieces I suppose.

for the sake of argument...if a player is traded at the deadline(I believe end of Jan?maybe mid-Feb?)
does the receiving team assume his ENTIRE year's salary?or,what's remaining that season, approx 1/3 of a season?

If it is only 1/3 a team coud maybe assume approx. 3.5M for the remainder of the Sedin's cap hit, with accounting acumen.

Signing both as UFA's would be more expensive, obviously.
If 40 yr old Alfredson(sp?) got 5-5.5M from Detroit, what are D&H worth?

I have probably overlooked other facts in this and I welcome correction and opinion from those on the board
who follow the game more closely
