It would be a shame if the Pittsburgh Penguins leave Pittsburgh, but having a team in Seattle would be great as the new Sonics owner wants an NHL franchise to share a new arena with the Sonics if they can build one. It would be an instant rival for the Canucks. Also Kansas City, Houston, Winnipeg, Hamilton, Indianapolis, Portland Ore, Hartford, and Salt Lake City seem to be intrested, if the team moves to either Seattle, or Portland then the Detroit Red Wings would almost be certain to move to the Eastern Conference where they belong. Seattle would be an intresting NHL Market, as it is the 2nd largest city without an NHL Franchise, Houston being #1

It would be a shame that after all these years, the Penguins had to leave Pittsburgh. Mario has done a lot for this franchise including when he was a player but there has to be a time when enough is enough. If Pittsburgh can't help this franchise out then Mario should cash in his chips.
Seattle would be a good choice ... close to Van and Victoria
so a natural rivalerly can develop ... also nice that the western
division teams would have a stop-over on their way to Anaheim
and LA etc.
The west needs more teams and while there is a 'history'
in Pissburg it isn't as grand as it seems ... the team was
nothing until Mario-Jagr and then nothing again until now
(Crosby-Mala???) ...
anyway, rather see them in Seattle!!!

I agree with some of the other posters that this is just a negotiating ploy and you probably won't see the Penguin's move anywhere and the potential owner who pulled his bid will end up the eventual winner.

Cant see it happening in Seattle. The Sonics are well on their way out the door here, the locals will in no way pay for a state of the art arena with the way the local government has throw away money. The recently failed Monorail project was a bust that has resulted in this town going for the least expensive option instead of one that might pay off long term.
