I loved the Star Trek series, and the movies....
I've been reading some of the news reports and some interesting stuff:
-Served in WW 2 and was part of the Canadian unit at Juno Beach
-His family believes exposure to toxic chemicals during the war eventually led to lung fibrosis, one of the many ailments that plagued him during his later years
-Took up acting on a whim, and won a drama scholarship to the same acting school that produced Leslie Neilsen and Tony Randall
-Could act in nine different "accents" and dialects
-Hated William Shatner
-the phrase "beam me up, Scotty" supposedly never appeared in any of the Star Trek episodes, though it became symbolic of the series itself
Rest in peace, Scotty....
