Well, here's Part 1B

Part 1B: Hosting your own image from your own computer.

1. Go to http://www.imageshack.us
2. Click "Browse" and choose your image.
3. If you want to make your image smaller/larger, then make sure there is a checkmark beside "Resize image" and choose a preset size. If not, then make sure there is no checkmark.
4. Click "host it!"
5. Scroll down to the eighth choise (Direct link to image) and click on it so that it is highlighted. Right click, and choose copy.

Proceed to Part 2.

What about the disclaimer at Imageshack that says uploading of "pornographic material is strictly prohibited"? What if a topless photo or a photo showing a lot of skin is uploaded? Can there be repercussions?

Are there sites other than Imageshack that allow up loading of photos without worrying about getting in trouble? Geocities? others?

I did not do the signature thing, but I registered with Imageshack (it is free and easy, just provide your email address to register), uploaded the following image, posted this message and placed the pic in by copying the URL of it from Imageshack and used the Insert Image button to paste the URL. Here goes. BUT what is classified as pornographic on Imageshack???

I use www.photobucket.com to store my pictures, including animated .gifs like The Grinch. I don't know about imageshack, but on photobucket, if you reduce the size of an animated .gif too far, you lose the animation and it becomes a still pic.

big_pegger, there must be an error in your instructions, because the pic doesn't appear in your signature.

If you use my instructions to resize it manually in the image tag, it resizes fine and keeps the animation. You don't have to let photobucket/imageshack/whatever do the resizing for you.

I put your grinch in my sig, and reduced the size manually. Animation still intact.

I didn't have signatures turned on in my posts until afterwards.

I'd have to go back to my previous posts and put a checkmark beside "Show your signature" to have my older posts show a sig.
