I was wondering if any members subscribe to satellite radio in their cars ? I've read about the theoretical audio advantage XM/Sirius have but also read that it had reception problems i.e. signal dropouts etc. Kind of like cell phones in their infancy. Is this true ?

I have had xm fm for about two years...best decision I ever made - was skepitcal but my new car came with a trial version and when it ended I signed up immediately.

If you love music with good sound?.....the only time I experience signal disruption is when bus goes by but its for seconds and the same happens with regular radio.

The other downside is that there are 200 channels something for everybody, but I find that I love one station so much I never change it.....continous wicked tunes...keeps you in the music loop without having to download stuff every week. The longer you sign up for the cheaper the rate....I pay 10 bucks a month...30 cents a day, really worth it since vancouver has really bad radio and I couldn't stand listenining to that clown on CKNW anymore...I drive slower to work in the am so i can listen to more tunes! and could care less about traffic.

Sirrius has better reception out west, and more so if you plan on going north at all.

XFM has better reception out east, and down south.

Must be due to the location of the satellites or something.

I personally prefer Sirrius, because I tend to listen to more classic rock.
I was listening to XFM last weekend and wasn't impressed with their selection.

I have had Sirius for 2 years now and will never go back to
regular radio. It is great if you spend lots of time in your vehicle
or travel thru the Western US. I took 2 trips to california from Wpg
the first one I thought I would have to slit my wrists with all the country
music or religion channels so for the 2nd one i I signed up for Sirius.
It was great can still get news from Canada etc and you never had to
change the channel the whole trip if desired. Reception is fine except like someone said in tunnels or under overhangs

Sirius!!!

I have had both XM and Sirius, and Sirius hands down is the one I stuck with for the last 2 years. Better music, better personalities (like Stern, Bubba, and Ellis), and nicer radios.

I've both Sirius & XM all the time-I do alot of driving all over.....what I've found (at least for my taste) is that XM has MUCH better and more variety of music - Sirius much better for the talk type channels & Nascar. I've had the odd reception breakdown for both but it never lasts for long.
