a provincial politician was arrested for offering money for sex.
It wasn’t with a minor as far as reported.
The question is what if it was a transaction with a worker that is doing it independently, out of her own choice, and is basically ok with this line of work, like most ladies on LL.
then this is ridiculous, and unnecessary, and counterproductive.

I do get that police like this kinda show off, publicity arrests.
I feel bad for the poor guy.

Saskatchewan is where I'm originally from (born and raised). When I saw escorts there (ladies touring from Toronto and Montreal) it was legal at the time so I was in the clear.

Left that province for British Columbia 9 years ago and looking back I should have left sooner. Don't miss it. If it wasn't for family and close friends that still live there I don't think I'd ever go back.

Can't help feeling that many in Saskatchewan will be thinking, "There but for the grace of god go I."

A lot of "we are so vey moral" huffing and puffing from his political team when Harper put in bill C36 about a decade ago. It's usually their own who get caught in the net, isn't it?

The state of Nevada legalized prostitution. It can be done in an ethical/respectful/fair way.

It was not too long ago I remember a part of Saskatoon was a Dry Area, no bars, no restaurant could serve alcohol, so on. Similar in other parts of the province. Such high moral standards I guess. Legal Pooning? Pshaw ...
It seems to me the cops were way below quota and figured well, lets go find some pooners and let the population know we are doing something. And they got points from those of such high moral standards I suppose.

Sins of the flesh mentality will never die in USA where I live. Why can't the government just leave people alone? I gave it another 300 years till p4p is legalized if at all

I grew up in Saskatchewan. I refer to it as the Promised Land.

The politician in question is a member of the Saskatchewan Party.. Steven Harper of course was the leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, two different entities.

Police loves high profile/high publicity arrests. It doesn’t matter how effective/beneficial the arrest is, but headline news arrest is good for their image.

Kudos to Vancouver and its surrounding cities police. As long as minors not involved, they won’t waste their resources on minding what 2 consenting adults do in privacy.

Nope. Just the provincial version of what the federal party is. Like saying a Chevy and Cadillac are not related, when both are GM.

I would disagree but you seem to know it all.
Disagree if you want, lay down some knowledge to contradict it.

The Saskatchewan Party was formed because the previous provincial Progressive Conservatives in SK got destroyed at the ballot box after some huge scandal. So they just invented a new name-plate for the same movement.
This strategy is not new in politics: Cast aside the name, but keep the ideology and most of the people involved with it. Maybe harden the ideology in a new faction, then once the old leaders are gone and old party name killed off, return to unity under the new name.
The fact they might be a different registered organization is meaningless; it's just on paper, so they can shed to old party's reputation (and its debts).

If I am wrong, name any time on the last 10 years that the SK Party were ever on the opposite side of any issue from the Reform/Alliance/CPC federally. Name any time that Scott Moe was not in lockstep with everything Harper, Scheer, or Poilievre also believed, or ever failed to use his position as Premier to bolster their efforts federally.
