Sask Kicker Receiving Threats
Police have charged a Regina man with uttering threats against Saskatchewan Roughriders placekicker Paul McCallum and his family. The man was arrested for allegedly driving past McCallum's northwest Regina home Sunday night and threatening to burn it down with McCallum's family inside.
The Riders kicker missed an overtime field goal in Sunday's 27-25 loss to the British Columbia Lions in the CFL West Division final at Vancouver.

Loosing a football game...

Hello!!

It's just a fucking football game!!!

It's not a battle against invaders and Terrorists!!!!!

The poor guy missed a feild goal. Could anyone of us done any better!!?? I don't think so.

It was a good game, it was an awesome game. Sask. should be proud. BC has done the same thing. And you know what...the Sun still comes up in the morning.

OK. Hockey is on the shelf. But let's not be stupid about our enthusiasm for Sports. The poor guy that missed the 18 yard field goal is not a robot. He is human. That's what makes sports interesting. You never know what can happen.

What comes around....goes around...let's wait and watch before we jump to conclusions.

Chill out in Regina...just make sure the team comes out fighting next year. May the best team Win. End of story.

Great game,.. not because we won, but we had good competition. No one person should shoulder the blame for this. It could have gone either way...That is a classic in my mind. I am a BC fan, and I have seen the other side of the coin.

Sask fans should be proud of their team. Rejoice, and give the Home Team the thanks they deserve.

Later,
bobsled.

People have to got to get a life! The guy is originally from lotus land and moves to the flat lands and this is what they do to him because of a game? Geezus people let's put things into perspective. If anything they should be proud that the Roughriders came this far after so many years of mediocrity. Geezus people grab a brain! People are dying in the middle east and brainless shit like this happens here in Canada!

It was a Pretty easy kick, and he should get his ass out of Saskatchewan intill next preseason. I bet he sat alone on the plane back. Kickers are not usely considerd apart of the team anyways unless you're Lou

if the kicker misses and the ball is not run out then it is a 'touch back' and is worth one point.

they didn't win on that one point because in the CFL unlike the NFL, each team gets an equal number of possesions ... therefore, if you score a point like Sask did, then BC had to have at least a field goal during their possession to win (if they only got 1 point then Sask would have had another try followed by another try by BC).

In the NFL it is sudden death as the first team to score wins -- it also makes first possesion the possible game winner ...

The CFL is more balanced in their approach because it is still like a game not just the luck of the draw.

and PS regarding Sask fans going to a guy's house with eggs and manure for missing a field goal ... get a life!!!! absolutely sickening thing for Canadians do be doing ...

The Roughriders were too far over on the left hashmark.

Anyone would be hard pressed to make a real short kick on such a shitty angle.

I don't blame the kicker.

Apparently SOME Saskatchewan fans really are inbred and playing banjos.....

i felt so bad for the poor guy when i heard it on the news. I'm sure he feels bad enough without the media and fans reminding him he screwed up the biggest game of his life... After the game his house was also egg'd and vandalized... some people are just pathetic.

I read Tommy Salo received death threats from some Swedish fans after letting in the Belarus goal in the 2002 Winter Olympics, so it does happen everywhere. And didn't a Colombian soccer player actually get killed after one of the recent World Cups?

Yah it was an 18-yarder and in the CFL those kicks are made nearly all of the time. But that fact is dude, sometimes every kicker misses the easy ones. I think McCallum is just as much at fault for losing the game at the guy who didn't cover Thelwell early in the first quarter when he went for a 78 yard touchdown. And McCallum is just as much to blame as Kenton Keith who fumbled in the redzone.

Kickers are considered part of the team. Afterall the kicker is the guy who scores most of the team's points. When they nail a big field goal all of the team is quick to rush around him and treat him like some long lost relative. When the kicker misses a big one, then most of the rest of team turns hypocritical. If that's the attitude of a team, then that ain't a team.

McCallum isn't really to blame. When he missed his first field goal at the end of the half NOBODY - covered the runback almost from the dead ball line and it was run out costing them a point. Sask also had the ball three times inside the ten and didn't score a major. It should have never come down to one point. Remember - today's hero - O'Mahoney just might miss an 18 yarder next week and cost BC the Grey Cup.

Cool down after a few days.

Just give it some time, they’ll cool down after a few days.
People will forget about sports after awhile.
Start thinking about naked ladies instead. :p

Cock Throppled is right. Sask's defence didn't stop the Lions at the end of the 4q when they got the tying fieldgoal. Others have mentioned the single point and the fumble at the 5 yd line not to mention that Sask didnt score a TD in OT and/or didnt run the ball to the centre of the field on 2nd down to give the guy an easier kick. Shivers was completely wrong when he said the kicker was the only guy who didnt do his job. You win as a team and lose as a team - I have a cliche for every occasion. Barret had the class to point out that there were plenty of others things that could have won the game for them.
