What's the deal with this guy? He's always injured but this time the bloody season hasnt even started yet. Lucky we dont have him signed to one of those 14 yr deals where he comes in every yr for a few games then is injured again. Heard on team1040 this guy is out for 5-6 months minimum or more cause of this type of injury. The Canucks have confirmed reports in a Finnish newspaper that Salo tore an achilles while off-season training. The reports from Finland say the injury happened during a game of ball hockey.

VANCOUVER -- Hard-luck Vancouver Canucks defenceman Sami Salo has suffered an off-season injury.

The Canucks say Salo suffered an Achilles tear while training and will be out indefinitely pending further evaluation.

Salo has had many injuries during his 11-year NHL career.

The 35-year-old native of Turku, Finland, had nine goals and 19 assists in 68 games with the Canucks last season.

Solves some of their cap problems with his salary off the books for about half the season.

So where r those frigging knuckleheads & CH here now? Unfriggin' believable. We're supposed to have a strong D? Then why does everyone want to get rid of Bieksa too? Not too long, we were supposed to be 'close' to a Cup. Not in a million years.

Til this incompetent management, never mind the fans, gets some real, hard-nosed D men that will punish others in the corners, make those opposing forwards hv an awful time in front of Lui, we have one of the weakest, softest D ever known.

Does Alberts scare Buffy?

What about The Famous European Swiss Cheese, with lots of holes: Edler, Erhoff? Salo will be gone midseason, either by trade or putting on his joc strap, so won't add him here ;)

Poor guy, almost as bad as the Elijah Price character played by Samuel L Jackson in Unbreakable.

Is he injury prone? Absolutely.
Is it his fault? Absolutely not.
Is he soft? Remember when he came back in this year's playoffs after his balls got crushed, most people would have stayed in bed.

Only moronic management like ours would give this marshmallow a no-trade clause. Just imagine if Wilde & Sniffy were their consultants.

Go Canucks go!!

Yeah! Gillis should have gotten the guy YOU suggested--- Sergie Gonchar!!! Now theres a good hardnosed Dman that punishes guys in front of the net and the corners! Instead he went out and got a couple of Canadian slugs who rarely get hurt and are in the prime of their careers and can get physical if required. Why doesnt Gillis read this board and absorb some of your well thought out opinions???

Yep Gonchar is one of the most feared defencemen in the league and scares the shit out of onrushing forwards. He makes Chris Pronger look like a pussy. He would have been just the guy we needed. But alas BJCunter is not our GM. We are stuck with Gillis like it or not but that is the fodder for another thread.
so who's going to QB the PP? Think this D is gonna be flukey second straight in scoring? And who has won the big prize--in case you don't know it's the Stanley Cup--and has the experience to settle down Lui the Choke and the rest of the crappy D? Oh yeah, Ballard sure brings stuff fr Florida, just like Lui.

And don't forget the valuable lessons Hamhuis will bring fr Nashville? Oh gee, no wonder these teams went far, huh? All those playoff success? Hmmm,,, u may have something there ;)
