Hello Health Nurse,

Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. It helps a lot. After I read some articals about condoms, I got two questions of safety of condoms.

1, We were told that condoms can protect you from STDs and HIV; however, I read a artical posted by a lady-SP who had AIDS. She said that she always used condoms, and never had BBSF. Unforturenately, she got positive. She said she was cheated because condoms could not make you stay away from HIV. The reason is that virus of HIV is so small that they can get into condoms without knowing. People might think condoms are safe because air dose not come out of condoms when they are checking condoms. Virus of HIV is smaller than air molecule, so condoms are not safe and cannot protect you from infecting HIV. I am wonderring if what she said is true, which condoms are nothing in front of HIV and STDs. No matter if people wear condoms, their bodies still touch SP bodies. If a sp has STDs, how do condoms protect them?

2, Wondering why two condoms are easier broken than one, and why it is good to put lube inside of condoms?

Thank you so much.

Hi tomjack

Sorry to hear about the SP who became positive to HIV

Here is a link to a post we did on the effectiveness of the latex condom.

https://perb.cc/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=95480

Penile-vaginal sex with a condom would be considered low risk for HIV infection. The reason they say it is low risk rather than insignificant risk is because there is enough evidence of transmission due to condom breakage or improper use.

There have been numerous studies that have shown that latex condoms provide an excellent barrier against sexually transmitted infections (STI) and HIV. As you have suggested the problem comes with infections that can be transmitted from skin to skin. The condom will only protect the part of the body it is covering. Condoms will provide some protection against infections like Herpes, HPV (genital warts) and syphilis, but since these infections pass from skin to skin contact the protection is not 100%.

Lube on the outside and inside of a condom can prevent condoms from breaking as it would reduce the stress on the condom. Lube can also increase the sensation of having sex for both people. You can put a couple of drops of lube on the head of the penis before putting the condom on. The trick is not to put too much lube as this can cause the condom to slip off.

The reason they do not recommend two condoms at the same time is because the friction of them rubbing together can cause them to break.

Let us know if you want us to expand on a topic. Remember if you would like to ask me a personal question just send me a PM.

Health Nurse, can you address the comment the OP made about the HIV virus being smaller than air and so it can go through a condom?

It is my understanding that condoms are tested via methods other than simply inflating them with air to ensure that smaller particles can not get through also. I think it's important to address that specific comment directly as that seems to be the "proof" given in the article the OP read about why condoms are not safe.

Hi Health Nurse,

Thank you for your reply. Now I understand that how to use lube and condoms.

A few years before, I broke condoms twice with my Ex, so I had to wear two condoms every time after that. Please do not laugh.

Nothing is perfect, condoms too. Witing for new generation condoms.

Thank you so much again
