Harsh realities

I believe in respecting religious or spiritual beliefs... but the line has to be drawn when innocent children needlessly die.

Do we know that the baby's death was preventable?

Perhaps the JW factor had nothing to do with it....sure preemies tend to need blood transfusions, etc, but shouldn't we wait for facts before passing judgement?

Yes it was. The idea behind fertility drugs is that 6 or 8 of the eggs 'take' and then you cull it down to three, maybe four to allow for a miscarriage or two. If a woman overloads capacity, there is no room in the womb, so everyone vacates at a little more than half way thru the pregnancy, ready or not. Obviously those babies were not ready.

As much as most guys think of breasts as nothing more than funbags, the reality is they are there as a food source for babies. There is two to accomodate twins. Every once in awhile, there is a glitch and triplets are born. A woman can manage with two breasts to feed a third child, but a fourth, fifth, sixth or seventh? Not so much. Women are not built to carry, or care for a litter. They should have left that to cats and dogs, as it's meant to be.

Exactly. Sextuplets born after only 25 weeks, each weighing around 2 pounds or less, and with underdeveloped bodily systems (for the lack of a better term). I think it's pretty harsh for anyone to start condemning people simply because they are JW's.

I can't quite figure what you're trying to say. Are you condemning the parent's right away based solely on them being JW's and alledgedly letting one of their babies die?

I thought Dakota was just making point about deliberately conceiving that many kids knowing that some of them will not likely survive, which is not JW related necessarily.

No, I'm condemning the parents right away based solely on their decision to disregard sound medical advice (don't try to give birth to a litter), leaving the babies to pay the price. The fact that they are JW has nothing to do with my post.

With or without fertility drugs, multiple births have occurred before and always it has been iffy for them to survive.

Okay I think whoever prescribed the fertility meds should be shot. In Canada, I believe legally you can only implant up to 4 embryo's per IVF cycle, or whatever. In the4 states the laws are vague and scarce. So it is up to the doctors prescribing the meds to ensure that the patient is well informed and that only the approved amount of embryo's are implanted or the approved amount of meds are being taken. Doctors practice medical under a moral code of conduct in which they have set out.

That's good and all, but why are you commenting on a thread that's 5 years old????
