Great article and video. What is really shows is that if you have an outdoor cat, make sure they are: Spayed/neutered, vaccinated, NOT declawed. The amount of overlap of outdoor cats makes it almost a certainty that fertile pets will end up preggo or fathering litters, spreading feline diseases if not vaccinated and unable to defend themselves if declawed. Where does my cat go? Besides, declawing is inhumane.

Eeeekk...i volunteered for a cat rescue agency and we hated hearing about cats being allowed to go outside. We really discourage it for several reason a lot of which are obvious.

sadly sometimes people move or cannot afford to keep the cat and they let them go wild. Feral cats are hard to deal with and struggle with a life that may be comapred to that of someone from the DTES.
Colonies start and some struggle for food and to survive. Especially a mother with kittens. The runt often does not make it.

One of my stray cat stories, I was sitting at home and had a ground floor apartment with a wooded backyard. One day, suddenly a cat jumped in the window....instead of screaming in shock I was like "hey little buddy...." and he would come in for some cuddles and head on his way. Sometimes I would come home form work late a night and he would see me come and follow me to the door.

He was really sweet.
