I went to Feenie's Restaurant on W Broadway and enjoyed having dinner there. The admosphere was great to take a date to. Artsy decore.

Any other restaurants in Vancouver to take a date to? Sorta to impress the date as well.

I read the Restaurant recoomendations started by Euro_Sabina, but that was more for her area in Burnaby...this is more for Vancouver and area, more of a non industry date question.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I swear you where reading my mind about that place, I have always wanted to visit it! Have you been to his other one, Lumiere?

Myself I have been to Joe Fortes on Alberni as of two weeks ago. Very busy place, service was excellent. Food served in a timely manner, though expensive. Prime Rib was so so, I guess the Keg still does good on a steak.

Now not romantic, but a great place if you are into ethnic food, try Pho Tau Bay at 108th and 148th in Surrey. Great Vietnamese restaurant frequented by locals and the like. Reasonable prices, most expensive thing on menu is $9.00

Lumiere and Bishops are both great. If you want something a little different try the Afghan Horseman on Broadway, there's areas where you can cozy up on cushions on the floor, and a few semi-private rooms as well I believe.

elixir at the opus hotel

Ask to sit in the velvet room & don't skip the foie gras. Very sexy-yummy & worth every crisp $100, like moi! :p

I think there is nothing more romantic in a restaurant than a great view or ambience. For romance, try these:

1) Harbor Centre rotating restaurant. Get a seat by the window. The restaurant rotates and you see the north shore, the harbor, downtown, burnaby, coquitlam.... the weather is so good right now too. Be there in the early evening so you can see the sunset. Been there a few times... the food is quite good too. Price is moderate.

2) Harrison Hot Springs hotel restaurant. I don't know if you can get into the restaurant without being a hotel guest (call first) but something tells me you can. The great thing about this restaurant is that the seating is around a wooden ballroom dance floor, and the little restaurant tables have lamps on them - it reminds me of something you see in a Hollywood gangster picture. The night I was there they had some good bluesy jazz playing (singer sang songs from the old song books a la Ella Fitzgerald et al). I was there with my SP-GF and we had a nice evening of waltzing and eating great sea food. She looked lovely under the chandelier lights. Lady should wear an evening dress. Man more casual formal. Price is high.

I'm no romantic and I hate doing stuff like champagne and flowers and crap like that. I prefer spontaneity. But I have to admit the two restaurants above do set a great mood if you just want to enjoy the lady you are with.

I like West on Granville. You may ask for the chef's table at the time of reservation and you can see the chef and cooks in action. Another restaurant that I like is Pear Tree. The price is slightly cheaper than West and the portion size is bigger. By no means the quality of the food is inferior to West as well. It's ironic that you brought this topic up, I was just planning on taking an SP there for a pre-game meal. :D

I don't think Pear Tree has a website, but here is their contact info.

4120 East Hastings Street, Burnaby
Tel: 604-299-2772

Please note that these restaurants do not have great view of the city or harbour. I am more about the food and the date than the scenery.

Since we are now on the topic of romantic, any ladies want to suggest a ROMANTIC date? First hand experience or wishful thinking romantic date.

Am not loaded with cash...within reason....say $300-$500 budget?

have you ever flashed a guy in the bathroom downstairs?
Believe it or not, i try to behave in public although now that i think of it, lebagytian & i did do an impromptu show for some lucky boys last year.

Another restaurant recommendation is the outdoor courtyard at Il Giardino on a warm day...molto romantico.

an intimate and relaxed first or second date can be found unwinding in the pillows of the Afghan Horseman on Broadway at Cambie. A staple of the college crowd, always been romantically successful.

Great food, great wine.

Also to mention: a restaurant can be great because of it's location close to great walking. After great food, conversation and wine, taking a walk hand-in-hand can be fantastic foreplay.

Though I'm not really a fan of pretentious restaurants...I do want to try Joe Fortes. As for romantic ones...I have heard the place on top of Grouse Mountain is really nice...overlooking the city with the one you love sounds really awesome...*smile*
Get that guy who allegedly spent $1300 at Joe Fortes with Heidi Starr to take you lol. :D

For some reason I thought it was "make it clap" or "duckandcover" but something tells the person that claimed to have taken Ms. Starr to Joe Fortes was banned because he mentioned BBFS... his posts were probably removed as well.

Fantastic Italian restaurant, in my opinion, is Amarcord in Yaletown. They make an excellent lobster pasta.

The important thing is, pick something close to home. Or close to where your staying. Nothing like clickin' with someone and then having an hour drive back from dinner to kill the mood that you spent all that $ at the restaurant trying to create. You want to keep the transition from dessert to DATY as smooth as possible. ;)

My girl and I haven't been to many places, but her favorite is always The Keg. She also has a favorite spot which is English Bay, so then during the summer time you could try The Boathouse located on Beach Avenue.

If distance does not matter, check out Horizons by SFU, Seasons at Queen Elizabeth Park and Salmon House On The Hill. Salmon House should have a good view of Vancouver.

Hmm the most ouchie out of the bill was when I paid $30 for 3 bottles of 800ml of VOSS Water from 'C' Restaurant. (I'm told I could find this at the local Stong's) However you are close to the water, so you could take her out for a nice walk.

For an ethnic flavor, check out The Banana Leaf on West Broadway. There is a lobster special on Fridays, but you have to buy 2.5 pounds. Everytime I go there, it's so packed and reservations are a bit backlogged. Stephanos on Davie has large portioned greek dinner and I always see a lineup. I only regret that Peschi's by the PNE is no longer with the same owner, the food is not as great as before, but the atmosphere was quaint and romantic.

Blah :)
