OK Calgarians, what's the scoop on this guy? Did the Oilers get a legitimate no-bad-goals goalie, or did we get stiffed?

A copy-and-paste post from the Lounge

The first-round draft pick could be a steep price if Roloson walks away as a UFA. The conditional draft pick is based on him re-signing with the Oilers during the summer. On the other hand, they already have an arsenal of good prospects and it's supposedly a weak draft, so at least they didn't have to give up any warm bodies. Anyway, with Morrison on waivers and Conklin shipped to the minors today (likely due to his temper tandem after getting pulled from the shootout), looks like they're going to stick with Markannen as the backup.

And I don't think the Oilers are done yet. They have a surplus of D-men to trade for some offense, which is likely why Lowe acquired Tarnstrom and Spacek.

He has a 911 lifetime save percentage which is better than what we had as for the draft choice we only have Ryan Smith as a first rounder before that it would be Mark Messier so I don't think we gave up much. Sorry forgot Grant Fuhr

It was a good trade....I liked Roloson when he was with the Flames, he didn't have a ton of wins but we didn't have a good team in front of him.
He is level headed and professional and a huge improvement over the rest of E- towns goalies.
Samsonov is another good trade, he gives the Oilers a feisty forward that's hard to play against but ... he's brutal in his own zone.

I can't wait to see Samsonov in the Oil colors and who his linemates will be.

Not exactly a smashing debut for Rolie the Goalie. I missed the game, but the press were ripping the D-men for dozing off in the 3rd.

Overall, I like the message Lowe is sending out: that he's putting together a contender and that the Oilers are no longer a farm team for the NYRs and the Flyers.

And Rolo was named one of the stars of the game. I don't think any of the other 3 were ever one of the stars of the game. It may be that Rolo just needs a few games under his belt to get his timing and game shape. He has been the backup all year and has played less than 30 games.

Roloson looked great, the oilers did too....for the first two periods, they were lucky to get the win. Oilers are looking braindead in the third period, bad penalties are going to kill this team.

In the first two periods they took the man, forechecked and blocked shots, then in the third they ran around in their own zone and hooked from behind.

I gotta wonder if McTavish is the right man behind the bench.

I think Mac T is the right man...who do you replace him with? I think we need to see more emotion from the GM and the coaches, when they played they played with their heart on their sleave, it was an all out effort every game, the whole game, we don't see that now. They need to rally the team every shift, motivation is lacking.

I hope so. He was horrible in that shootout against the Canucks. And even in last night's game, sometimes he's flopping around outside the crease like a fish out of water.

Sometimes it takes a while, (more than a hand full of games) to figure out what the guys in front of you are doing and are capable of and of course ViseVersa, He will settle in and be OK, better than what was there before.
